Description Ported to OBJ from the model created by Henrik Nielson for the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, and which is featured in his Global AI Shipping Package for same.  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.

The Arleigh Burke class, so named for Admiral Arleigh "21-knot" Burke of World War II fame, are the newest class of destroyers in the Unted States Navy (USN).  They began entering service in 1991 right at the end of the Cold War, and were designed as somewhat scaled-down Ticonderogas fitted to a smaller guided missile frigate hull instead of the cruiser-sized hulls of the Ticonderogas.  They were designed as true multi-mission platforms from the start, and were given the AEGIS combat system and its AN/SPY-1 phased array radars to aid them in this.  Often seen as the Ticonderoga's little brother, these have proven to be very capable ships in actual service and have received regular refits and upgrades to keep them in service as long as possible.  Their success has also influenced the modern destroyer designs of other nations, such as Japan's Kongo class.  They were supposed to end production and be replaced by the planned Zumwalt class by 2020; however, with the cancellation of that program in 2009 due to excessive costs overruns and the failure of its new LRLAP weapons system, production of more Arleigh Burkes was resumed.  The USN's current plans are to keep its entire force of Arleigh Burkes operational through the 2040s, although it is said to be weighing other options (such as a further refinement of its current Littoral Combat Ship program) for potential replacements.  To find out more about the Aleigh Burke class, follow the link below:

This is a straight port with no changes by me.  It depicts USS Bainbridge (DDG-96), but can be modified to represent any Block I Arleigh Burke DDG by altering the textures accordingly.  It can be also modified to represent one of the Block II series, although that will require making the necessary alterations in a 3D editor.

This is not my model.  All I did was port it to OBJ for you.  Please credit Henrik Nielsen if you use this in any of your own 3D projects.  You do not have to credit me for my part.
