The Federation aquashuttle made its one and only appearance during the heyday of classic Trek in TAS "The Ambergis Element." It is a shuttlecraft that is also designed to act as a submersible for the exploration of planets that have large bodies of water, such as the pelagic (water-covered) planet Argo in that episode. This was also the first-ever armed shuttlecraft in the history of the Trek franchise, as also seen in that episode. It's a very cool design and one of the best things to come out of TAS while it was still in production. Needless to say we fans have gone to town with it over the years, and some of us are still hoping that it might make an on-screen comeback someday. For my part I gave it a brief cameo in my STNV adaptation of "The Enchanted Pool," during which it's dispatched along with other Enterprise shuttlecraft to the surface of Melinva III for a planet-wide search that also includes its oceans. Other fans have used it in other ways as well.

The Federation aquashuttle is Franchise canon. 'Nuff said there. XD
