Description

A mod by me derived from the Frax starship models created by Panzergranate for the Starfleet Command (SFC) series of video games.  Based on the original design by Stephen V. Cole and the Amarillo Design Bureau (ADB) for the Star Fleet Battles (SFB) tabletop sci-fi war game.  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.

The Frax were in origin a completely fictional alien race, even within the SFB thread of the Trek multiverse for which they were originally conceived.  Per their original backstory they were invented by the computer experts at the Klingon [Imperial] Academy back in the pre-TOS era for war games exercises as a simulated foe who liked to build their combat starships with all firing forward, all firing rear, or combined forward quadrant and aft quadrant only on-board weapons coverage.  This makes sense once you remember that many Klingon starships designed expressly for the offensive and a number of tried-and-true Klingon space battle tactics are geared around the head-on frontal assault.  The Frax simulation has been updated continuously over the years; however, a copy of one of the later TOS versions was stolen from the Klingon Academy "by person or persons unknown" (a-hem) and now everybody has access to that particular version, if not the later ones for later eras (wink).  Other major and minor spacefaring powers who have obtained copies of the stolen Frax simulation have also come up with their own variants tailored to best their own starship designs and tactics in simulation, or have developed comparable war game sims of their own.  There are also a small number of SFB-derived fanon threads of the Trek multiverse where the Frax are real, they are known as the Kalt and inhabit the Kaltic States (hey, I'm just reporting this), which is located a region roughly space north (on a 2D map) of the Klingon Empire along their border with the Kzinti Patriarchy, and not only do they get to have lots of fun with the Klingons but also occasionally tangle with the Kzinti, the Lyrans, the WYN, and even the Feds on occasion.  So there you go.  Imaginary or real, the Frax (Kalt) are yet another foe you can tangle with in the SFB universe and all of its various associated Trek multiverse threads.

This is the standard Frax (Kalt) destroyer.  It's not much to look at, is it?  You're going to quickly find out that like the ISC almost all Frax (Kalt) ships look alike regardless of size.  Hey, they were originally an invented alien race, so function took precedence over form and looks (wink).  That said, Frax (Kalt) ships are very sturdily built and can take lots of damage in combat.  They also have some very naaaasty weapons coverage in both the forward and aft firing quarters, so you don't ever want to get caught with your pants down directly in front of or behind one of these.  You're gonna get fried if you do, guaranteed.  Port or starboard?  Wide open but heavily shielded against such a contingency; however, if you can overwhelm those side shields then they're at your mercy.  That's the fun of playing with the Frax (Kaltic States).

This is semi-canon, as it comes from a Franchise licensed war game (SFB).

ASIDE - If you want to come up with your own souped-up or improved version of this Frax (Kalt) starship design then by all means feel free, so long as it conforms to the general shape and layout and you credit ADB for the original design that inspired your revamp.
