Description
Ported to OBJ from the generic low-poly model created by Tom Sanford for Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 2 (CFS2). Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS. NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.
I'm providing this as a generic low-poly clipper ship model of the kind that used to ply the world's seaways during the first half of hte 19th century. They were the fastest transport ships of their day and were built for speed, given their narrow hull design and extra sails, as opposed to contemporary sail-powered transports of the era. The type began to fade away in the back half of the 19th century despite getting bigger and adding more masts and sails, due to the rise of steam powered seagoing vessels. What finally did them in was the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, which allowed steam powered ships to make the trip from Europe to the Indian Ocean far faster and cheaper than could a clipper ship. After that they gradually disappeared from the world's oceans, and by the turn of the century no more were built for commercial purposes. Only two original clipper ships from the era survive today, Cutty Sark and City of Adelaide.
This model is based on Lightning, one of the last large clippers built for the United States. You can find out more about her at the link below:

This is a low-poly model with only basic details (very basic!). It is meant to be seen from a distance, and as such works best as a background prop out in a harbor or offshore somewhere. It will fail you if you get too close to it, so be careful in how you use this in your own 3D projects. You might also consider adding some kind of stand to it and using it as a scale ship model in somebody's home or office somewhere.
