This is fanon (i.e. non-canon) insofar as the Stargate franchise proper is concerned, but was created by Stargate fans in order to fill an obvious hole in the Goa'uld spacecraft lineup. Jan'tak is the "in-between" class that falls between the large Ha'tak class motherships and the Alkesh class transports. At its most basic it's a scaled-down Ha'tak with almost the same firepower but with all of its mothership capabilities removed so it can function as a pure warship. Per the original creator these were developed as patrol vessels to guard important Goa'uld assets, and in particular their trade lanes. Again per its original creator Jan'tak was a favorite with Goa'uld starship captains because it was "all warship," if you will, and the fact that it was significantly smaller than a Ha'tak meant that it required far less resources to build. Other Stargate fans have since waxed eloquent on Jan'tak since its original creation and added their own unique twists to its tale in their respective Stargate continuities, which should give you some idea of its popularity among them. Perhaps the best Jan'tak model of all was included as part of the Stargate Races mod for Sins of a Solar Empire, but this simpler one will do nicely for most folks and it's fairly easy to port too.

ASIDE - This is the Goa'uld equivalent of a large overgunned naval destroyer. Think German Z-class or some of the more powerful Soviet and Japanese types from World War II, and you've got a fairly good grip on how to use it in your own efforts.
