Description

Ported to OBJ from the fan created model included with the Stargate Command (SGC) mod pack for the Starfleet Command (SFC) series of video games.  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  While I'm not making my port of this particular model available for public download, SketchUp artist Adam W. has made his own fairly respectable low-poly Prometheus, which is available for free from his Google 3D Warehouse account.  You'll have to port it yourself if you need it in other 3D model formats (and watch for flipped normals, common SketchUp porting issue).  Here's the link:

Fellow dA member NepsterCZ has also done his own very respectable take on the X-303 Prometheus, which you can get at the link below:

Prometheus was the very first interstellar warship built and operated by humanity in the fictional Stargate universe.  It made its debut in the Stargate SG-1 television series episode of the same name.  Its construction was financed by the United States, in particular the United States Air Force (USAF).  Named for the Greek giant who stole fire from the gods in order to bring it to humanity (a fitting name given the ship's origins), Prometheus was initially conceived as Earth's initial response to the power of a typical Goa'uld Ha'tak.  Like many warships it's an example of function over form, and this was exaggerated even more by the fact this was a spacegoing warship as opposed to a large bomber or typical naval warship.  Needless to say its look was very unconventional in typical human terms but turned out very well for its designed purpose.  It carries eight F-302 fighters to supplement its formidable firepower in any attack - mainly rail guns and particle beams along with missile batteries of diverse kinds - and Prometheus wound up being very impressive as Earth's first true space warship.

In official Stargate canon Prometheus was intended to be the first or lead ship in an entire class of such vessels; however, she was quickly replaced in production by the larger and even more impressive Daedalus class (see separate entry) and thus became a one-of-a-kind vessel.  All the same she served Stargate Command well for three years on various and sundry missions before finally being lost in the show's last season during the war with the Ori.

In Stargate fanon ... FANON ... Prometheus DID become the lead ship of a series of similar vessels, with financing for later ships in the class provided by other Earth nations (whose militaries got to operate them too but that's a show issue; go watch it to learn more)  -- mainly those who couldn't afford the building of a Daedalus type, or who preferred the smaller Prometheus type for whatever other reasons of their own.  There was also some attempt at variations and improvements, and I will be dealing with one of those in particular in a separate entry.  Again let me emphasize that in Stargate official canon Prometheus wound up being the lone ship in her class, but in Stargate fanon she's the lead ship of her class.  Make of that whatever you want as best fits your particular Stargate project needs.  XD

ASIDE - Both Prometheus and its successor Daedalus are classified within the Stargate franchise as space battlecruisers; hence the "BC" annotation in the title line.
