Description

Doing pre-production prep work for the next episode of Star Trek - New Vistas (STNV), so I'll be ready to roll once the time comes. I've already got my basic guest character models ready; now I'm working on the sets. This will be the first one, and it's a very large exterior desert planet set. There will be at least one and possibly two interior sets as well. I'll be adding a few more details (objects) to this one; however, the basics are there.

The desert plain was adapted from the one from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The wrecked starship in the background is actually a reuse of the wrecked nuclear sub from the Fallout series. Starfleet Class F shuttlecraft model from the First Fleet collection by Dave Metlesits.

I'm using the wrecked sub model to represent an old DY-500 class starship from the Star Trek franchise that was bought as surplus, got rebuilt by new owners, but was eventually wrecked on a remote desert planet. The original DY-100 is from TOS "Space Seed." The later DY-500 was designed by Rich Sternbach for the Star Trek Space Flight Chronology (1979). A visual of it appears on a display screen in TNG "Up the Long Ladder." Both were inspired by contemporary nuclear submarines. Believe it ... or not (wink).
