Jodie was so jealous - As you might recall from the first part of the original Autumn Spring trilogy, either the first novel or the first season of the web comic, Jodie had the hots for her future husband Alan right out of the starting gate when he first arrived at DCH in the position of the firm's new junior partner decades ago. She also witnessed Alan lightly flirting with Brandy during their first encounter and Brandy flirting back, and don't forget that Brandy had only just dumped her loser boyfriend Ellis Langford and was unattached again (ref. "The Competition") She was very much available, she knew Alan was interested in her, and she was not averse to his attention. Jodie on the other hand, WELL ... (chuckle). Perhaps it's best to remind all of you of Jodie's reaction to this first encounter back then. Here's the scene in full from the web comic version of "The Competition:"

It explains a lot about what happened after that, though - See "A Secondary Interlude," in particular the second half.
