Description
Ported to OBJ from the waterline model created by the original Virtual Navy team for Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 2 (CFS2). Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS. NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.
The U.S. Navy's (USN) Nimitz class of nuclear powered supercarriers is one of the most successful and long-lived class of aircraft carriers in the history of naval warfare to date. Building on the success of the one-shot experimental nuclear carrier USS Enterprise, the design was further refined and tweaked in order to come up with Nimitz. The class ship, named for Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz of World War II fame, entered service in 1975 and was still in service as I was writing this (fall 2020). Nine more ships in the class would follow over the next 28 years, with even more tweaks and refinements along the way. This makes Nimitz the largest class of aircraft carriers produced since the 24 hulls of the World War II era Essex class. Production was discontinued in favor of the newer Gerald R. Ford class, the first of which began building in late 2009. Current plans are to start decommissioning them c.2025 as more carriers of the new Gerald R. Ford class enter service to replace them. To find out more about the Nimtz class and their storied service history, follow the link below:

This a straight port with no changes by me save to remove the hull numbers from both the flight deck and both sides of the island, so this can be used as a generic Nimitz class carrier. I also went the extra mile and included a lower hull culled from another Nimitz class model for all of you, although it isn't a perfect fit due to the way the Virtual Navy Nimitz is shaped at the waterline, especially at the stern. It's there mainly for anyone who has the 3D skill and would like to alter both to properly fit each other. Those of you who don't need or want it can remove it simply by turning off its texture.
This is not my model. All I did was port it to OBJ for you and do the hull number texture mod as described above. Please credit the CFS2 Virtual Navy team for the original if you use this in any of your own 3D projects. You do not have to credit me for my part.

ATTENTION XPS USERS! - Fellow deviantArt member Haganeya has a rigged XPS version of a much higher quality game ripped Nimitz model. Here's the download link:
