The Project 671 family of Cold War era attack submarines built for the former Soviet Navy (Sovetsky flot for short, the full name is way too long in any language) are known to most folks here in the West by their NATO code name of Victor. Victor kicked off the second generation of Soviet attack submarines and represented a giant leap forward in Soviet submarine technology from the earlier, far noisier (underwater), and trouble-plagued November class. Its Russian designers copied the teardrop hull pioneered by the United States Navy (USN) and used by other NATO members, but added a few twists of their own such as "tear-dropping" the sail to boot. This combination, along with better engines and an improved nuclear reactor and first employed with Victor, would set the basic design pattern for all subsequent Soviet attack boats for the rest of the Cold War. Because of its design the Victor family were the fastest attack subs fielded by anybody (even over the USN's famed Los Angeles class) until the Soviet Alfa and its successors came along. Victor was produced in three basic variations or production blocks which are known as Victor I, II, and III here in the West and in Russian as Project 671 Yorsh, Project 671RT Syomga, and Project 671RTM/RTMK Shchuka (named after the famed World War II family of Soviet coastal subs). The remainder of this write-up deals with the original Victor I version (Project 671 Yorsh).
Victor I was the first iteration or production block of the Victor family of Soviet attack boats. Its Russian name is Yorsh (sometimes written as yersh or yersy), which is the Russian term for the Eurasian ruffe or pope freshwater fish. Sixteen (16) of these were completed and entered service with the Soviet Navy starting in 1967. They were the most advanced Soviet subs of their day and much has been said about them which is entirely justified ... although they never did quite lick the underwater noise problems that had plagued November, even though Victor I was significantly more quiet. Experienced Western sonar operators from this era compared the underwater sound of Victor I at speed to that of a small pickup truck or large car, whereas November sounded like a fully loaded tractor-trailer with a loose trailer hitch and bad shocks (grin-and-wink). All the same it was still a big improvement, and making the boat even more quiet underwater would happen with Victor II. Anyway, back to Victor I. Each was armed with eight bow-mounted launch tubes that could handle standard naval torpedoes, early ASW missiles, and small mines (NOTE - The Russians have always been big on mine warfare, so this was expected). They could carry up to 24 torpedoes or missiles in any combination, or up to 48 tube-launched mines, or any combination of both. They were never upgraded to the standards of the later Victor II and Victor III class boats AFAIK, and save from the usual regular and expected in-service refits, overhauls, and equipment upgrades remained pretty much the same from the time they entered service until they were retired as a group in 1997 due to the financial inability of the Russian Federation, the successor to the former Soviet Union, to keep them in service. The entire class was eventually scrapped. To find out more about Cold War era Victor I class attack submarines of the former Soviet Navy, follow the links below:

This is a straight port with no changes by me.
While I am no longer making my OBJ ports of Silent Hunter series models available for public download, you can get this yourself in one of two ways. You can extract it piecemeal from the game data using the free SKWAS/s3ditor model utility and rebuild it in your preferred 3D modeling software, or you can rip it directly from the game after installing any necessary mods or mod packs noted above using any good 3D model ripper (3D Ripper DX or NinjaRipper recommended).
BTW there is at least one game-ripped Victor I 3D model (from Cold Waters) and one absolutely free fan-created one (SketchUp, Lazarus Starkweather) out there in the Internet ether as I write this (July 2022), both of which you can find and download on your own with your favorite Internet search engine.
