Well, me and my mom went into a Mexican store today. It was all Spanish, and unfortunately my 4 years of classes only taught me normal words, not gorcery store context type of thing x.x Plus, I was out of practice. But I got this gum, and I was joking with my mom, about what flavor. For some reason, the idea of weed popped into my mind, maybe because of the leaf, because it sure as hell wasn't peppermint or any other common plant. And I knew "buena" means "good" and would likely be describing whatever "yerba" is, so I said, "Hey! Maybe yerba is slang for shit! That's some good shit!" Well, "yerba" actually means "grass." Now go type "yerbabuena," no spaces, into a spanish translator. AOL has one in its search, or use Altavista's Babelfish, maybe others work. Go on, look it up.It means "marijuana." Good grass, eh? My mom even said it smells like weed, and trust me, she would know. I don't know if it's possible to get high from chewing marijuana, but the fact remains, this is it. Imported from Mexico, where it's legal.
The moral of this story, is never to buy gum "just to find out what flavor it is" from a place that sells Bimbo brand bread

San Francisco. My friend came from Mexico
and speaks fluent Spanish and English. Even
she says that yerba buena means "good herb."

Oh yeah, 3 facts.
1) Marijuana is legal in Mexico. They see nothing wrong with it, and don't treat it as a drug. It is used a lot. It is also used a lot here, only in private, because we see it as a drug.
2) Marijuana also goes under such names as "grass," "sweet leaf," "cannabis," and "herb." By definition, it is indeed "a type of herb."
3) Marijuana is used as medicine. Gues why? Pain reliever!
