Description Another windows concept using the same 360 wheel concept also changed the name to windows 7 as it seems right.

Theres not really much difference in this one from my previous concept just felt like it needed updating really.

I'm interested; how does the wheel function?
And why is the close button of the Contact window at the bottom corner?

Nice clean crisp graphics.

Well the bottom half is a rotational menu which I supposed to rotate the β€˜^' part is clicked the icons on there would be the most common used applications like the start menu in windows XP & Vista.

Reason for the close button is that I wanted to try something different the bottom part is basically the title bar. I personally think this is just as useable as the normal on top style.

The disc is very interesting. If I where make such a launcher I think I'd make it so that hovering the mouse over either side of the disk would make it automaticly scroll allowing for a much larger activation area.
Have you considered making a real gadget out of it? By using of the the Gadget engines out there? DesktopX Pro let's you create standalone gadgets. Though it's not a free app...

I like the close button looking at it purely graphicly, but I don't agree it's just as usable. The eye is used to scanning left to right and downwards, at least for those using the latin alphabet. Then you also got the long established convention in any OS to have the buttons in the titlebar. But I realise it's a conceptual design and the desire the play around. We wouldn't progress if we didn't try to puch conventions.

btw, nice gallery you got.

I think hovering or clicking would work I guess hover for initial slow movement of the "dial" and clicking for a fast movement...

I had started making a gadget using DesktopX but I really don’t have time for it, I’ll maybe start working on it again in future weeks but it’s not on my list of priorities at the moment

Exactly my point with the title bar at the bottom, just because others do it differently why should everyone follow I’d like some hard facts to prove my theory doesn’t work before I’d ever "follow" the conventional way...

Thanks for looking at my gallery, just took a look at yours, very amazing. Love the media centre truly awesome.
