A quick voice-cast I made for my brother. Quite the stories behind the voices of these Servants, too.Archer/Jesse James: Originally, we went with Steve Blum (in particular, Mugen from Samurai Champloo) and it stuck for quite some time. THAT all changed when RWBY's third volume introduced us to Qrow and Vic Mignogna's portrayal of him as a snide and witty drunk fit Jesse James so much better than Blum. I ran the idea by Steel, he watched episodes featuring Qrow and he folded.
Saber/Peter Pan: This is one of the few casting choices that actually stuck in the long run. Steel and I both knew we needed a youthful voice, but still older than what most people portray Peter Pan as (he's a bit older in this world he's made). Bryce Papenbrook has been on a roll with young male roles in anime these days, so he seemed to fit the bill pretty well.
Lancer/Boudicca: First of all, YES, I"m aware of Fate/Grand Order's own Boudicca and, trust me, this version is a visual and conceptual improvement. Boudicca, in this portrayal, is old enough to be a mother of two, and as such required a voice that would capture maturity, yet savagery. In my book, Mary McGlynn is the go-to voice actress for that kind of tone and character.
Rider/Hannibal: Hannibal went through a LOT of changes, physically and voice-wise. He started out as a hulking, Kratos-like figure, but evolved into something more reserved, cunning, and fitting for the title "King of Generals". This, sadly, required me to change out the original plans for his voice. Fortunately, friends over Skype introduced us to Douglas Rye's performance as Cao Cao in Dynasty Warriors. It was rugged, gruff, but also demanded respect and had a level of authority to it. It fit this new portrayal of Hannibal so well that even I had to fold and say "this is great".
Assassin/Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Steel and I originally went with Robin Atkin Downes to voice this German preacher, but in time, it became clear that the planned voice (Medic in TF2) was too eccentric and not "friendly" or "warm" enough for times when he was being inspirational or sympathetic. Liam O'Brien's portrayal of Nightcrawler in "Wolverine and the X-Men" came to mind and stuck much better to the character, possessing an earthier tone that made him much warmer.
Berserker/Samson: I had Fred Tatasciore on the brain ever since I saw his design, yet Steel was not fully convinced (likely because he always remembered Fred as The Hulk and little else). That all changed when I showed him Fred's performance as Magnus in "Kid Icarus: Uprising". The voice was deep, gruff, but also confident (albeit a bit smug). THIS was a pleasant surprise for him, he told me.
Caster/Aladdin: This was the one we REALLY struggled with, because there were quite a few voice actors who could have done the role pretty well. After narrowing it down to three, Steel turned down Karen Strassman and only shrugged at Kate Higgins. Eventually, we found Laura Bailey and were reminded that she could do a lot more with a "villain-type" voice than Lust. Lucina was initially rejected, but on further listening, it fit this version of Aladdin very well. She would frequently masquerade as a young man and wasn't entirely evil, just desperate and in the wrong crowd.

Did you have something like this in mind for Aladdin's voice?

Gotta be honest; I still consider being the one to pitch Douglas Rye as Hannibal as one of the best fan-castings I have ever accomplished to date. All in all, I LOVE this cast!

I can't consider Boudica's design in Fate a proper one. That isn't like her at all... Idk, I might be a little too picky about it but Ours is much better and no one can convince me on the contrary.

I heartily agree with you on that one. Ours looks like a badass warrior queen...Grand Order's looks like something from a porno.

Sadly, yes...
Such a nice character to have as hero as they went with that awful design.
Same goes for Astolfo. It was a big no for meΒ Β
Personally I don't like much Grand Order's... but, well.

I mean, YEAH, Grand Order's got some good designs, like Fergus, Darius, Tesla, Minotaur, and (definitely) Leonidas. But then you've got bland ones like their Boudicca and Arjuna (whom a friend of mine called "The Quincy design") or just "What?" designs like Atilla, or jut outright awful like Julius Caesar. Sometimes, it gets them good, but most of the time (due to too many cooks in the kitchen) it's just a big swing and a miss.

I know, right? That was one of the reasons I went with Fred in the first place.
