Then it was time for RubyΒ΄s letter to be delivered. I hate to adress the elephant in the room but having a major fan complaint sent straight to her personaly like this is kinda funny. for me lol If anyone is wondering about the dark area in her eyes in the last panel, she kinda had a hard time crying just some moments ago, Sorry, I know my humour is dark to the extreme sometime.Related content

they did kinda explain about the why from yang but i agree the truth has to come from ruby herself I'm hoping volume 6 finally gives Ruby the spotlight she deserves and needs at this pointΒ

I dont wanna bash, and all due respect to Monty, but its kind of his fault. The whole reason he started RWBY was just to make cool fight scenes, but he was terrible at coming up with a plot. He came up with the outline up to volume 5, and while the rest of RoosterTeeth had to fill up the gaps on their own, he's the reason Ruby's such a flat protagonist to begin with, and why the whole of RWBY has so many problems.

feels like people are making this bigger then it is, i mean goku is technically a bad protagonist, so is luffy but nobody complains about them as much (although goku and luffy are heroes of circumstances)

and occasionaly he rescues or saves someone, the fishman island arc, trying to save ace, saving sanji in big mom arc, etc, etc, he's out to be pirate king, whch puts him on the goverments/other pirates hit-list, heck he even says he doesnt want to be a hero (he wants all the meat, no sharing)

I am not of that opinion, Ruby, in my opinion, has slowly evolved as time passes.
She already had her goal set when she was young so the journey is her continuing her dream and coming to terms with reality.

i got into the series after volume 3 and i will admit: vol 4 and 5 didnt exactly feel the same as the first 3.
there were some fun moments, dont get me wrong, but it was a lot more "tell, dont show" wich you dont want in an animated series.
vol 5 felt a lot more like a way just to get team rwby back together after the lukewarm reception of vol 4, i sincerely hope the show can pick itself of off the canvas with vol 6 after this reunion.

I've been thinking about this alot and as much respect Monty Oum receives... being dead should not protect him from criticism.
Ruby is my favorite character and even I have to admit, she is a terribly weak character for someone who is essentially viewed as the face of the show. Most people walked into this show wanting to see four girls have wacky, super exciting battles against monsters with their gun/weapon combos.
Volume 5 was the weakest volume by far because oft he lack of 'showing' and the dumb things characters do during that month before the volume endgame. Such as Blake dragging her heels dealing with the laziest branch of the White Fang in history, or Yang dismissing her entire reason to become a Huntress to play Babysitter for Ruby, or Ruby being told to learn Unarmed combat within a month to fight a possibly bitter fire mage, a thief with illusion powers, an assassin that excels in Close combat, and maybe a bandit leader that is just as skilled at combat as her Uncle, not counting the Dust Hulk that shows up to say hi where she could just use her semblance to reclaim her weapon when she loses it.
Oh well, Ren and Nora have reached the end of their story, as did Jaune if Cinder is dead. We may need an Infinity War-style cast cleaning to make the show more focused and get rid of the mountain of side characters this show forces us to look at and listen to.

RWBY did have something simliar to Infinity Wars in vol 4 with the split story lines of characters. But those concluded pretty Fast the nextΒ vol and with so many characters in the same spot now, Its a bad sign.

I wouldn't say V4 has something akin to a 'Infinity War' as they didn't really remove characters but add more for us to try and pay attention. What I would prefer is just most of the side characters leaving the show via 'they're needed in a location as far away from all plot points as possible' or just getting killed off by the villain to give the heroes more reasons to want shove their foot up Salem's ass.

Issue I see with this is, most people (Since she was introduced) Want Ruby to be a better protag. In the sense of this day an age she has competition with other stories and most importantly stories with characters like Deku and others. However that could be due to the fact that not only is this show structured weird with how epsiodes are shorter then most TV shows but also how its a limit epsiode run season without a Manga or source to pull a backbone from as well. But that could also be due to the cast, as instead of having equal focus to the main four they believe it be best to use the other characters for growth and stories over Ruby Rose.

But for gods sake, CRWBY needs to stop showing off Jaune so much (because I believe he is a bad character that gets way too much than he deserves), and they should dedicate the next volume to Ruby. It honestly should not be that hard if they work with the facts that they have with her.

Mind you I could very well be speaking out of my butt, cause Ruby is stillaΒ GOOD Characters, we know what she wants to be a Huntsman and a hero, while the bad has happened that goal never changes. Shes someone we always there for her friends, we Blake was missing Ruby was on the streets. When info gathering had to happen she was by her friend PEnny's side. HEr flaws and likes are clearly marked in all dialouge and if you watched say Blazblue, it shows further.

Thatβs all true and I like how analytical you are. But what we saw in volumes 4 and 5 was different, which is what many people including myself want to know more about, has she changed since the Fall of Beacon and if so then in what way? Which is why I singled out Jaune because heβs been getting a lot of focus even though heβs not the main character that some people think he is. I still love Ruby and think sheβs a good character, but my problem is nothing has been done to expand upon her since the end of V3.

The thing is, they had plans but at the same time I think for Vol 4 and 5 they wanted to show out say Ren and Nora cause they needed it, Blake and Co cause they needed it and again for Jaune cause they were gonna fight CInder and he had to rush inc ause of his realtionship. From Killing of characters Or attempting to for characters that can still grow and help in the story, making characters to just well get removed later for pre exisitng ones or focusing time on the others minus the Protag. Which isnt a bad idea but again, shows like Naruto, My hero and others have show cased you can still devolp these characters while having spot light on others.

Even if that was true, they shouldn't be complaining so much. The show was made by someone who died years ago and he was probably the friendly and best man of rooster teeth, them criticizing the ones who want to continue what he started, are basically dissing a great historical figure.

I know more about Blake, Yang, Nora, Ren, Jaune, hell I know more about Tai and Qrow than I know about Ruby. Everything else seems to drive the plot forward and it seems like Ruby is just sort of caught in the middle of it all
