Then it was time for RubyΒ΄s letter to be delivered. I hate to adress the elephant in the room but having a major fan complaint sent straight to her personaly like this is kinda funny. for me lol If anyone is wondering about the dark area in her eyes in the last panel, she kinda had a hard time crying just some moments ago, Sorry, I know my humour is dark to the extreme sometime.Related content

Wow, you pretty much hit the nail on the head with her.
As I've been saying it before; much as I love Ruby, she's a REAL poorly written character. Not really saying she's boring or anything, but it really goes to show how bad the writing has been to forget about your own MC. This is the main reason why I don't like Jaune; since he's gotten moments and more development than Ruby herself.Β
Seriously RT, get it together with Ruby, this path she's been on isn't good.Β

Is getting better, at least in the last vol it was, yet I would still prefer to see more of her and the other members of RWBY, than to keep seen other characters out of the team and their stories... hell, kill me if you want, I hate the character of Jaune, but he has gotten more protagonism than Ruby, Im scared that they are going to make Ruby and her team the secondary characters...

Yeah and look at what they did to Adam, Blake, and Yang. The latter half of Volume 6 sucked ass. Ruby didn't get enough screen time to have like what wa sit 5 speeches? Normal a character is built up before they give a speech. If shes giving speeches every 5 minutes thats just meaningless exposition
Dont even get me started on how they screwed up the military of Atlas just for a "old womens cat fight joke".
I'll admit before the discovery of the Apathy Ruby was really good. After the Apathy discovery it was down hill from there.

What i'm saying is that sure Ruby always wanted to be a huntress to be like her mother, but the "right thing to do" was always here as well.

There are many people defending the show saying that it's not all about the protagonist and that other characters needs to shine. This is a sound argument, the problem is... YOU HAVE TO DEVELOP YOUR MAIN CHARACTER AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT BEFORE ADRESSING SOMEONE ELSE!
Gosh! Ruby didn't change at all since volume 1, I want to believe that she's the main character but I can't! She's not even a character anymore, she's just a freaking mascot walking around while Jaune and the others do everything!
She barely have any relations to any characters other than Weiss, Crow Yang and Jaune! She never even had an alone conversation with Blake, her own freaking teammate! They even dare to make us think she cared enough about Pyrrha to have the show equivalent of super saiyan transformation when they never interacted with each-other onscreen!
She doesn't even have a clear objective aside from making the world a better place, that's not an interesting goal, what about discovering what happened to her mom or something?
Sorry I'm getting worked up over this, but that's just the tip of the iceberg with all the problems she have, it's just so frustrating to see so much wasted potential.

Ruby is a bad protagonist this is part of my reasoning.Β The "why" is the reason for doing something. An example would be Locus from Red vs Blue. Locus killed many people and almost destroyedΒ the world. The "why" of it is because he wanted to be a weapon.Β
Ruby is just killing with no reason this is the "how". She said she wants to make this world a better place but she never explains why. Is she doing it because of her mother? Because her father is a hunter? Because she cares deeply for the world? We do not know why. If you have a character that is doing something just to do it then they are a bad character simple.Β
