EDIT: A big THANKS to everyone who's been kind enough to comment. After taking under consideration all the suggestions, this is how the picture is currently looking. The shadows were adjusted and some elements are brighter than before (including the eyes). I've also taken away the almond branch, since it's most definately making an appearance in a following picture. So, until further tampering this is how it will be appearing in the book.Normally, I would be using good ol' ecolines for this project, but I've decided to go digital instead. This is the first time I'm officially working straight from pencil to photoshop and it hasn't been an easy transition. Don't be shy, suggestions are still welcome despite the EDIT

Hm, is it okay if I ask a question out of curiosity? Were you referrencing wall frescos from ancient Greece? Because that wall painting reminds me of frescos I saw in the museum in Santorini, Greece.

Indeed I was! The story takes place in an Aegean island sometime between 1600B.C. to 1200B.C. I used reference from all the civilisations that were active at the time. I indeed based the fresco on the one you saw in Santorini, but used only its upper part, taking most of the rocks away. My apologies for not replying any sooner!

I love her expression. Also, the fact that the bird (is it a swallow or.. uhh... I'm horrid at identifying birds) is not only flying through the air but on the wall is truly a wonderful touch. I love the color tones as well, it brings out her expression and surroundings. Excellent job!!!!

I really enjoy the different styles between the background wallprint and the bird. It makes him really look 3D and it pops out of the page. He is adorable. I also really love your style in general...it reminds me of Disney. You should really keep practicing...its been a long time since Ive seen quality talent that doesnt look directly like someone elses work. I suggest that whatever ledge she is sitting on pop out some more as well. you have one stone very 3D to the right, but the rest looks quite flat. Even if you just make the stone pop in places and not the chunk as a whole. everything should flow

You're quite an inspiration. This art is simply amazing, the colours, shading and shadows, and the face are beautiful. The fact that you accept critique and even take suggestions into consideration when you're already so skilled is nothing short of outstanding. You've restored some of the faith I had lost where talented artists are concerned. Definitely worth a favourite.

Beautiful job! Your style (or at least what I've seen here) reminds me a lot of Disney, although, with more of a realism twist than actual cartoons. I'm not quite sure we CAN advance critique this now XD It's far to beautiful to change anything. I am just in love with the way you draw hands and the way you've shaded this piece. It's incredibly obvious that you spent a very large amount of time on this. Awesome job

Lovely - I particularly like the effect of the swallow echoed in the mural, and again in the shadow! Your degrees of light and shade are so complex it makes my brain hurt
