Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is defined as a personality disorder primarily characterized by emotional dysregulation, extreme "black and white" thinking, or "splitting", and chaotic relationships. The general profile of the disorder also typically includes a pervasive instability in mood, interpersonal relationships, self-image, identity, and behavior, as well as a disturbance in the individual's sense of self. In extreme cases, this disturbance in the sense of self can lead to periods of dissociation.The disturbances suffered by those with borderline personality disorder have a wide-ranging and pervasive negative impact on many or all of the psychosocial facets of life, including ability to hold down a job and relationships in work, home, and social settings. Comorbidity is common; borderline personality disorder frequently occurring with substance use disorders and mood disorders. Attempted suicide and completed suicide are possible outcomes without proper care and effective therapy.

My mother has this and we are both similar with symptoms and everything. I need to see a therapist but we're too fucking poor. I went to see one a couple months ago and it didn't work out due to money.Β

I grew up with a mom that had borderline personality disorder, and I can tell you that bitching and whining is a very normalΒ phenomenon in people with BPD.Β Β

Ahhh after looking at this for a really long time, I'm pretty sure I have it. Unfortunately my mother is of little support to me and won't let me see a doctor for any mental-health related issue.

I've been diagnosed too, I've been dealing with it since I was 14. Learned to live with it, and sometimes I find myself wanting a more "normal" life, but lately, with the disorder under control, I actually learned to look past everything and enjoy seeing things from another perspective, trying to look only at the brightside. It actually made my life less boring (yes, I know it seems stupid since it is a serisous disorder, but learning to "enjoy" it made me get a lot better)

Go and see a doctor! Once you know for sure, it becomes a lot easier to deal with and treat the disorder.

It's quite hard to ask my parents to see a doctor, since I've been going to a psychologist for a while. Also, I'm kind of scared, I'm just 14, isn't that too young?

It is never too young for a mental illness. Mental illness doesn't care about age, race, height, hair colour, eye colour.
Talk to your psychologist about it instead.

She seems to just take it normally, and say that I'm way too insecure. I don't think that it's only being insecure. It doesn't feel like that.

I was diagnosed with Borderline along with PTSD, MDD and Generalised Anxiety disorder.
Borderline is still the hardest to fight.
some of the most damaging stigma I've found about Borderline
has been among mental health professionals in hospital.

I think I have BPD but I'm afraid to ask a doctor because of the job I want to do...what if that disorder couldn't let me become what I want? Until I'm not sure and no one else around me is, I can still get it. I will risk...

Go to a doctor. You can't battle the illness and recover if you don't ask for help and know what you're dealing with.

I was diagnosed with this, it's really hard to explain to people what it is. I often have trouble telling my teachers that I have it and I often don't wish to.
