Rabbit sat on the front steps of the hotel, enjoying the crisp morning air. Winter was in full swing now, and old snow littered the ground in patches on crunchy, hibernating grass. The cold didn't bother the mongrel much, and with the sun shining on her black and white coat she was rather comfortable. With a final sigh of vapor into the morning air, the collie stood and shook out her fur. She needed to find a companion for her ranking up task, but the sunlight glittering on the sleepy city held her attention for another moment.
The winter's here somewhat reminded Dominic of home. The crisp, bone chilling breezes would enter the hotel ever so often and make the pitbull shiver but the shivering made him actually feel more comfortable. He slept in the coldest room of the hotel the night before, he had been snoozing all day but felt as if he should stretch his aging bones a bit. Rising to his feet, he walked down towards the atrium, nails clicking and clacking against the hard wood floor. Noticing Rabbit down by the entrance, he smiled and walked towards her, "Ello Rabbit, how are you?" eagerly asking, hoping the female had something fun planned, maybe he owuld allow her to tag along.
Rabbit's attention lingered on the hotel's lawn for far too long, and she was unable to pull herself away. Her mind drifted as her eyes scanned the yard, seeing without seeing until a flurry of movement actually captured her attention. A pair of young cannon fodder romped through the snow, biting and pawing at one another in a sparring match. She wanted badly to join in; wasn't she about their age? Wasn't she still a young pup, only two years old with plenty of play left in her bones? No, she was a mid-ranker, working for more power, and such silliness might reflect poorly upon her. There were days where Rabbit was serious, and days where she was happy and full of play... today was definitely the former as a scowl spread across her face. She took a step forward to reprimand the dogs, to send them off to get food or bedding or something to earn their keep, when a friend's voice rooted her firmly to the ground. Dominic's eagerness made some of her sour mood dwindle, and she managed a wag of her tail and a soft smile. "Morning, Dominic..." she reached out and sniffed his cheek in a tender manner. "I'm alright, and yourself?" she said, deciding he'd be the perfect dog to accompany her. She'd ask him after they caught up with a little idle chat.
"Im doing fine, nice to hear you are alright" tail wagging as she greeted him, he took a moment to watch the blanket of white snow taking over the landscape of Trieste. It was a beautiful sight to see, especially to watch the young pups bounce around and play about, flopping and falling in the snow, chasing each other. Dominic hadnt frolicked in the snow in years, but because of his quest to rank up, a puppy like behavior wasnt really something he needed to be associated with him. "So what did you have planned for this glorious day?"
Rabbit smiled as she waited for Dominic to reply, her eyes dancing along his stout little frame. She wondered what it would be like to be a pitbull like her companion, to be shorter and lighter and nothing but muscle and attitude. Her friend was a spunky little thing, and she decided she would be lost in a body like his. She needed long limbs and a lithe frame to survive; she depended on her swift body and the freedom that came with it. Snaking around the battlefield, curling around brick corners, and jumping over fences would always be her element. Shaking her muzzle, she was drawn from her thoughts by her friend's reply. "Yes, I feel like I haven't been seeing enough of you," she said with a soft smile. When she wasn't working she was holed up in her room with Atlas or Feli, curled up tight and enjoying their warmth while she rested and dreamed glorious dreams. "Hmmm, I need go and rough up a butcher's dog... Vice wants access to the shop. Would you maybe be interested in tagging along?" she asked, glancing at the sky with a wicked, playful smile upon her lips.
The moderatly short pitbull's eyes almost gleamed outta his head when he heard about going to rough up a dog, a butchers dog at that. Dominic was one of many pitbulls that loved to fight with other dogs. "You know im down" he answered, briskly, there was no way he could say no to that quest. Tail swishing and swashing against the concrete floor, "So, when were you planning on leaving?
Rabbit's grin widened at Dominic's reaction; she knew he was always up for a little adventure, but he was so incredibly easy to read. She licked her lips and twisted her neck to scratch at her bad ear. It was an awkward trick while standing up, but the sensation was worth the strain on her neck. Shaking her coat, she glanced up at the sky to gauge the time of day. It wasn't a long walk to the butcher shop, but if they took their time they could get there right around when the man would lock up for a bit and go to lunch. Her plan was to beat the shit out of the dog as quickly as possible and get him to agree to her terms. "We can head out now," she said, walking down the steps at a leisurely pace. "We'll take it easy and get there with plenty of time to do our business before the butcher gets back." Rabbit's chest grew hot with excitement at beating up the butcher's pet, but she kept her pace easy and glared at the cannon fodder as she passed them.
Excited to get on the go, the adult pittie began to follow Rabbit as she walked down the the stairs. Smiling as he felt the cold ice cooling the bottom of his paw pads. No matter how cold it may have been, it didnt seem to bother the short haired male, as he walked down the path, he could feel hisself prancing with excitment not only to be going on a task to beat a dog up but also to be outside in the snow. "So, Rabbit, where have you been...I havent seen you around lately" attempting to make small talk as they walked toward the butchers shop
As the two dogs moved farther from the hotel, Rabbit let her posture relax a bit. Some of the tension left her shoulders and hips, and her legs began to swing in an easy walk. She yawned and licked her lips, flicking an ear at Dominic as he spoke. He seemed quite excited to be out and about, and she was glad for it. She was sure to muster some intensity when they got closer to their destination, but for now she moved easily and enjoyed the sound and sensation of snow crunching beneath her big paws. "I've been running lots of errands... you know how it is. Trying to get ready for winter, trying to rank up," she said with a smile. "I trust you've been doing well, comrade? You have enough blankets for the coming months?" she asked. Rabbit didn't mind doing work and being cold, but when she slept she liked to be nice and toasty. Her bed was piled high with all the blankets she could get her paws on, and still she sought more.
listening to the lovely collie as she spoke to him, the pitbull nodded but then tail began to cease to wag. "Ive actually been quite lazy these few months. Being that well...." he paused and looked at Rabbit, seeing as she was in a rather happy mood, he didnt want to spoil the mood, "well....just been tired, with all the new pups wondering about" hoping she wouldnt catch his change in tone. This winter season was a happy but sad time for Dominic as it is the month where his daughter was taken from him. As he watched the trucks roll by, he noticed not too many ppl out and about in the streets, must be too cold for the humans. Drawing closer to the butcher shop, Dominic could smell the meat, as he inhaled the surrounding air, steaks, veals, sausages, meatballs, hotdogs, hamburgers all the wonderful things humans and dogs alike shared in favorable cusines. "mmmm....smells wonderfull, you eat meat ?"
Rabbit kept her pace easy, the morning sun warming her fur and making her tired. She gave a yawn, her attention still lingering on her companion. She enjoyed Dominic's company, so even when she was feeling like this she'd always spare him as much of her attention as she could. In the back of her mind she processed that her paws were getting damp, the smell of the butcher shop was growing stronger, and dew was beginning to gather on her whiskers. "Something wrong, comrade? I know you better than that," she murmured, the pitbull's pause throwing her off. She didn't spend a ton of time with Dominic, but she knew him well enough that the pause caught her attention. The scent of the butcher shop was suddenly quite strong, and her stomach gave a rumble. As much as she enjoyed the well-seasoned and trimmed bits of flesh from the humans, nothing pleased her palette more than something she killed on her own. "Mmmm, of course... I'm excited to make our little arrangement with this dog." she said, licking her lips, imagining the taste of a steak dissolving on her tongue.
Paws greeting the ground as he walked, the pitbull looked down and watched his feet make paw prints in the snow, the little fur that coated his paws were dampening but he didnt let that stop him from enjoying the snow. His feet where coarse and tough, he had been exposed to snow all his life, a few hours wouldnt even begin to wear him down. The smell of meat blew into his face, almost knocking the tongue of the pittie out of his mouth. "Yes, hopefully this dog will be coporative. If not then, hmm...." he stopped as he heard a warning bark from the butchers dog. He screened the front of the store for where the bark was coming from. The bark was deep and strong, yet something about it seemed to make Dominic's head turn downward with confusion. The dogs bark was aggressive, yet the message he was trying to get across seemed wrong, as if he didnt speak dog very well. "You understand him Rabbit?" turning to her, maybe she could understand the human pets version of dog speak.
When Dominic didn't answer her question, Rabbit pinned her ears and have a quiet huff. She wouldn't press him now that they were at the butcher's, but later she'd harass him until he told her what was wrong. Licking her lips, her ears perked forward when the butcher's dog began to bark. The voice was deep and heavy and a bit difficult to understand, but she could tell he was a big, aggressive dog. "Sounds like a mastiff or something," she murmured, taking a deep whiff of the air. It smelled like the butcher had been gone a few minutes, so they'd have some time to rough up his dog and make a deal. "I can understand him. I'd bet he doesn't see other dogs much," she murmured, rising onto her hind legs to look into the shop. She could see the big black mastiff cross watching her, his eyes wary but curious. She gave him a delicate, tender smile, and his tail gave an awkward, friendly wag. "You want to let us in, big guy?" she asked, her breath fogging up the glass. This would be easier than she thought... being a little kind and charming would get them in, and then they could do what they needed to do. As the dog came forward to open the door, Rabbit glanced and Dominic and let out a deep breath, signalling they should remain calm and cool and let the situation play out.
Walking up towards the glass, the pitbull could feel his head lifting slightly as he approached the large mastiff. As the mastiff spoke, the glass seemed to shake as well as the snow on the ground by the door. His voice was deep but yet he wasnt angry at the presence of the two, well not of Rabbit. "You can come in, he will have to stay outside. I dont trust him" growling a bit at Dominic who greeted his growl with one of his own. "Fine, idc who you dont trust, if she goes in, I go in. I dont trust you either" snarling a bit, as the two dominant males gave off a "whos more dominant" competition, feeling the breeze kicking in, the mastiff groaned and snorted, as he nudged the two to come in. Dominic pranced in, tail wagging as he managed to get his way.
Rabbit smiled as the door opened, looking up and down the sidewalk as a wave of warmth from the shop hit her. She was glad to see no humans at this time of day, so her tail gave a kind wag at the mastiff and a lazy smile spread across her lips. The collie wasn't the prettiest dog in the world, but she knew when and where and how to use the little feminine charm she had. When the mastiff cross didn't want to let Dominic in, she stiffened ever so slightly, but her smile grew kinder. She smiled and looked at him like she would a puppy, one that still struggled with the ins and outs of canine behavior and was trying not to be eaten. "C'mon, he's with me. He won't be any trouble, big guy," she said, her voice delicate. Their little growling match set her on edge, but tried to hide her sigh of relief when the butcher's dog finally let them in. Tilting her head back, she took a deep whiff of the air and gave a dreamy sigh. "These are some nice digs," she murmured, glancing at a freezer full of meat. "I'm gonna be straight with you. We're here to make a deal." she said, her voice serious. She was grateful to the dog for letting them in, but now it was time to do business.
There to oversee the deal, he lingered back behind Rabbit as she spoke to the large bahemith that stood before them. Eye's focusing on the mastiff as well as a few glances at the meat locker . "Deal? What kind of deal your offering?" his deep voice rang, the mastiff's head tilted in the concept of thinking what sort of deal she was going to offer him. He had had a few dogs come in and try to get a few of the butchers choice cuts and until then, he had shut all them down. The mastiff was a bit of a push over but yet Dominic wasnt sure how much he could be pushed until he snapped.
Rabbit took another deep whiff of the air, letting the smell of food wash over her. She had eaten a nice sized pigeon for breakfast and shouldn't have been hungry, but all the meat sitting around was making her stomach grumble. When the mastiff spoke she kept her attention away from him; she was trying to be charming, but now that they were making a deal she wanted him to understand how unimportant he was, wanted to make him feel like nothing. She was hoping he'd comply and there'd be no need for a scuffle, but she circled around, lazily and casually, so the big brute stood between her and Dominic. It was a bit risky, to put the dog between her and the door, but she was confident he'd be easy to put down between the collie and pitbull. "The kind of deal where your intestines don't end up in the snow," she said, turning towards him sharply, staring with her bicolored eyes. "We're from the Di Trieste... surely you've heard of us, even here in neutral turf. We want food, and you're going to give it to us. In return, we'll make sure you aren't bothered by any strays. If you're not up for it, you're going to die." she said, staring down the big dog. Surely, even with his bad communication skills, he would understand that her stare meant business.
Listening to the female speak to him, the large mastiff laughed, "You...and him....hahahaha! you must be joking?" his deep voice spoke out "Put my intestines on the floor, you must be joking?" the mastiff almost laughed himself onto the floor, before Dominic walked up and snapped at his nose, making his head snatch back up "She's serious, and if you dunt believe I kill you, then try me housepet" snarling and barring teeth and Dominic readied himself for a fight. The tall mastiff, puffed his chest out and growled at the both of them "Tell your friend to back off, and both of you get the hell outta here, before I hang you two in the meat locker" lowering his head and barring a bit of teeth
“Now now, boys... take it easy,” Rabbit said, pinning her ears. She moved closer to the mastiff, slowly and steadily, her body language still relaxed. “Take a sniff, dipshit. You smell all these dogs on me? You lay one paw on us and they're all gonna be after your hide. You think you can hide in this butcher shop forever? There's no escaping the mafia life, shit-for-brains.” she sneered. When she thought about it, she'd spent most of yesterday in the hotel. Her coat was covered in the smell of the hotel and all the dogs that lived there. She'd spent the night curled next to Atlas, brought down breakfast for her and Feli, and even had a little chat with Vegas on her way out that morning. She was part of a virtual army, and this dumb dog was threatening her? She nearly laughed at the proposition; mafia life had given her strength and confidence, and she knew it'd be easy to knock the mastiff on his back and tear him up. But if they made a mess the butcher would know something was going down, and that wouldn't be good for anyone.
The mastiff drew in a slew of air, having to sneeze from all the odors and smells that entered his nose. "hmmph.." he snorted and groan, sitting down on his rump, eyes still narrowed at Dominic. He pondered the proposition "No stray gives me trouble, none. What you offer, doesnt have any benefit to me." he sternly proposed, Domnic's brow rose "None you say?" he turns his head and peeks outside "Theres five of them outside right now. So wth are you talking about pet? You agree with us, and all them will go away, if not....lets just say they will find a new entrance into this joint and that meat locker" the mastiff stood and growled at Domnic's threats. But the concern on his face still showed through. Blowing air from his nose he turned and looked at Rabbit "If I agree, how do I know my masters shop wont be vandalized and you wont take all my meat?"
Rabbit listened as the two dogs threatened back and forth, and she was glad she'd brought Dominic along. He was a strong dog that knew when to throw his weight around, and he was smart about it. Licking her lips, the mixed breed gave a yawn. "We Di Trieste do what we need to survive, and only that. We'll stop by now and then and you'll give us some food, and we'll make sure nobody rips your throat out," she said. When he added the bit about them sneaking in and stealing everything, she rolled her eyes. That had been the original plan, but she had decided making a deal where they could get a steady stream of meat would be better for both parties. "I'll talk to my boss, and no matter what, we aren't going to go after you or your master. I know it's a shitty deal for you no matter what, but it's your only choice. You're either going to die or sneak out a few steaks for us whenever we drop by." she finished, growing quiet to let the mastiff answer.
Being a house pet had a number of disadvantages, even for a dog that dwelled so close to the streets of the city. He couldnt grasp the idea of street smarts as well at the dogs of Trieste or even Fonga. He looked the female up and down, before agreeing with her sweet pretty face. Not knowing that he would be fucced over eventually, he genuinly thought he was making a good mood. The fact that he was a big dog, didnt mean anything, he could still get his butt beaten any time of the day by any dog. Dominic smirked knowing that they would soon take more than their fair share of meat from him, but trying to soothe the mastiff he sat on his haunches and coo'd "Good choice comrade, you shall be safe from here on out" nodding and hoping to make him feel better. The mastiff sighed and rested back onto his bumm. "Alright, ill go along with your plan. However if something goes wrong, I will make sure your pack will accomidate for the troubles" his threat fell upon deaf ears. Dominic wasnt afraid of the mastiff. "Yah, for sure..however nothing will go wrong" holding back a smile as he lied straight into the eyes of the large dog.
Rabbit smiled warmly at the dog when he agreed to work with them, and her tail gave a friendly wag. She approached the mastiff and sniffed his neck gingerly in a proper greeting, stepping away after an instant and moving to stand beside Dominic. "If things ever go sour with your master, come look for us," she said, licking her lips in a cheeky manner, her brown eye fallen shut. "We take care of our own. As long as you keep the meat coming, we'll help out if any dogs bother you. Just let them know you're under the protection of the Di Trieste," she added, glancing at Dominic. She knew they were supposed to come back at night and clear out the place, but she wasn't going to do that. Heaving a sigh, the collie only hoped Vice would be alright with the arrangement she'd set up. She knew the mastiff wouldn't be a problem in the future, but she wanted things to go smoothly and for the butcher shop to be a place where they could regularly and reliably get food. She wouldn't disagree if Vice decided that a one-time raid was the thing to do, and her gut twisted with anxiety at the thought, but she badly wanted everything to go right. "Why don't you go ahead and grab us some meat to take to our boss and seal the deal?" she said, her tail giving another friendly wag.
The nieve mastiff wagged his tail as he walked off to retrieve some meat for the two. Dominic fought with all his might to hold back the laugh that had been stirring inside him ever since the mastiff agreed with them. Glancing at Rabbit, he gave a quick faint smirk, before the Mastiff came back with a large peice of rib and a steak. "This is all I can give you for now that my master wont notice" nudging the meat towards them. As doing so he walked up into Rabbits face, snarling his teeth, almost touching his nose with his "Fucc me over and I will make sure you feel the heat of a bullet inside you" he warned. Dominic wasnt paying attention at the time, he was measuring how he was going to carry the rib, chomping his teeth into it before looking up
Rabbit shook out her fur while she waited for the mastiff to return, her body language relaxed and friendly. She kept her eyes on the dog as he dropped the meat on the floor and approached her. She bared a single fang as he came close enough for their noses to nearly touch, but she kept her cool. Her eyes narrowed a bit and she pinned her ears, a quiet growl rumbling in her throat at his threat. "I look forward to it, sweet cheeks," she said, her tone even. She was sure most dogs would react poorly in his situation, and she wanted to protect him, but now she was ready to turn him over to Vice and tear the shop to shreds if he asked. She stared the dog down for another moment, turning to pick up the steak. "We'll be seeing you. Or maybe not." she said around the chunk of meat, swinging away to walk past Dominic and towards the front door. She felt confident turning her back on the dog, and she reared onto her hind legs to open the door and hold it for Dominic.
Ignoring the threat that the mastiff had made, Dominic continued to carry off the ribs towards the door. He waited for Rabbit to go through first as then he followed. The ribs where just about the size of Dominic's head, if not a tad bit bigger. The pittie narrowed his eyes over his shoulder as he walked out the shop, glarring at the mastiff as he sat back and watched two leave. "The nervousness he must be feeling right now" he thought as he watched him beginning to pant as they left. He waited til they got a lil ways from the shop before speaking to Rabbit "So, will we be going back to raid tongiht or will Vice be sending other dogs to do so? not really sure with what else Rabbit had in mind for the night. Either way, if this was all for their little task, he was pleased with the outcome. He pranced a it as he carried the ribs, his tongue would every so often rub against the meat and cause his taste buds to go wild.
Rabbit's body was tense as she walked down the street with Dominic, unsure what was going to happen. She had wanted to make this new deal with the butcher's dog, but she wasn't sure if Vice would allow it or he'd want to follow the original plan. Turning her head to listen to Dominic, she gave a loud snort and watched the vapor dissipate into the air. "I'll talk to Vice. If anyone's going to kill that dog, it's going to be me," she said, pinning her ears and growling with fierce determination. "At the very least, we won't pay him a visit for a few days. Whether it's for a few steaks or the whole shop remains to be seen." she mumbled around the hunk of meat in her jaws. She shook her head and picked up a trot, eager to get back to the hotel.
Dominic smirked at the determination that Rabbit expelled when she mentioned to wanting to kill the mastiff herself. He liked to see the fire in dogs when they wanted to kill, Dominic was sadistic like that. He walked back towards the hotel, holding the ribs in between his teeth. Air escaping his nose more quickly due to the weight of the ribs. He trotted towards the hotel since he figured they wouldnt be hitting up the butcher shop again that night. He nodded as she spoke, about not visiting, "I can go months without seeing that ugly mug of his" he muttered, paws pressing up against the cold, ice chilled concrete
Rabbit's eyes narrowed a bit as she planned how she'd kill the mastiff cross. It'd need to be quiet, so somebody would have to cover his muzzle. An ugly sneer spread across her maw as the perfect plan came into mind... she'd just have Vegas hold his maw shut while she tore out his throat and belly. The mastiff wasn't too much bigger than her, so she could probably dump his body somewhere with a little help. The collie gave a snort of laughter at Dominic's comment, bobbing her head slightly in agreement. She picked up her pace again as she spotted the hotel, glad to see the cannon fodder littering the yard that morning had dissipated.
The two dogs bounded up the stairs in the hotel, heading straight for Vice's room. The meat in their jaws was still frozen solid as they placed it at his paws, and Rabbit carefully explained the deal they had made.
