Description
2016 Update: Oh, I'm sorry, did I say "not any time soon"? My mistake, I meant there's a TON of new WOTM2 stuff on the way.I can't make any kind of promises as far as how long it'll take to complete things, especially with the holidays coming up, but here's the plan:
*Eight new levels, updates to all of the old levels, new items, a completely rehauled story mode, and character endings.
*Five bosses (most of which are new) with illustrations and descriptions.
*Eight new monsters: Dualag, Cragoth, Karkaros, Vimoor, Rabdis, Denedrah, Melkeor, and Morcogg!
*A fifth skin for every monster- starting here with the originals!
I went ahead and spruced up a few pre-existing skins while I was at it. You can still view the original version here: sta.sh/01p7v00c5h9x
----
Alright, part one of my WOTM2 roster is finally done- and just in time for New Years Eve, too!
As a little bit of a disclaimer, I know fans of the game were attached to certain skins, and in my efforts to update the old monsters and keep things fresh some of those skins have probably been replaced. My first bit of advice would be not to fret too much since, you know, this is just made-up fan stuff and I have no influence whatsoever on what'd go into a real War of the Monsters 2.
*Incognito Entertainment split into LightBox Interactive (Starhawk) and Eat Sleep Play (Twisted Metal).
Overview:
New monsters:
PS, skins would have different colored attacks and new roars now (where applicable). Example: Kineticlops' second skin has green lightning and Ultra V's fourth skin has a female voice.
------------------------------
"Unbeknownst to the human race, the crashing saucer that had brought Cerebulon to his doom had also blanketed the atmosphere with leaking alien fuel. With the extraterrestrial mutagen now airborne, chaos broke loose in every corner of the globe: the monsters, long thought to be dead, now revived with even greater strength than before."
CONGAR. After his defeat during the first War of the Monsters, Congar was captured by military forces and reclaimed by the United States government. Too weak to fight back, the once-mighty monster was shackled, sedated, and brought back to a remote government base to be studied. For a time the giant ape was completely at man's mercy... then the alien fumes found him. Supercharged by the same cosmic energies that'd created him, Congar broke free of his constraints, destroyed the base, and escaped into an unsuspecting world with more power and rage than ever before...
Updates:
*Congar has a slight resistance to electric attacks and doesn't take as much damage from generators and powerlines.
*Congar is weak to fire and takes increased damage from being burned.
TOGERA. Fatally wounded from the battle at Gambler's Gulch, Togera instinctually returned to the sea. With one final roar, she collapsed into the surf and disappeared; crowds gathered and cheered along the coast, and all across the world the news rang clear: "Togera is dead! Togera is dead!" Then the fumes came down. Inevitably making their way into the water, the alien mutagens found her body and revitalized it. Bursting from the waves with new-found power, Togera set off to wreak her terrible vengeance...
Updates:
*Togera has a resistance to heat and takes reduced damage from fire attacks.
*Togera is weak to electrical attacks and takes increased damage from being shocked.
*Togera's movement speed is not slowed down by deep water.
KINETICLOPS. "Destroyed" by the Atomic Island meltdown, the Kineticlops horde was reduced to its most basic state of existence after the first War of the Monsters. Little more than sentient sparks, they scattered across the country through circuits and powerlines, tiny, harmless, and unseen. Then the mutagen started spreading; the sparks were drawn to it like moths to a flame. Converging on the same contaminated power plant all at once, they caused a massive power surge that fused them together, forming a new, singular Kineticlops.
Updates:
*If Kineticlops comes into contact with water, any monsters already standing in it will be shocked.
*Kineticlops cannot be harmed by electrical attacks and is thus immune to generators and powerlines.
ROBO-47. Though one of the War's most destructive monsters, the Atomic Era mech Robo-47 was eventually defeated and reclaimed by its American creators. Deactivated and disassembled, its individual parts were separated and shipped to high-security bases all across the US. Until a means to control it could be established, the robot would remain in disarray indefinitely... or so the military had hoped. Bathed in alien radiation by the cloud of leaking fuel, every cog, gear, and bolt took on a life of its own. Gathering together at the site of their old bunker, they began to reassemble themselves... and piece by piece, the dreaded weapon Robo-47 returned to power.
Updates:
*Robo-47 takes full damage from electrical attacks, but also absorbs their charge. Being electrocuted gives him energy at the cost of health.
ULTRA V. After its defeat in Tsunopolis, the Ultra V retreated with grievous wounds and collapsed into the surf. Leaking alien fuel through a hole in its hull, it contaminated the entire area, poisoning and mutating sea life for weeks after its demise. In the wake of the ecological disaster, the Japanese government reclaimed the lifeless mech and reverted it to its original state. They implemented a new control system that mimicked the movements of a human pilot, making it impossible to operate on its own. Unfortunately, its new campaign of repairing and defending cities was short lived. Bathed in the falling fuel of Cerebulon's ship, the "mindless" machine began resisting control and ejected its pilot. Marching back to Tsunopolis, Ultra V had War on its mind...
Updates:
*Ultra V is weak to electrical attacks, but instead of taking extra damage, he loses energy from being shocked.
AGAMO. Victorious over his molten nemesis, Magmo, Agamo's triumph was short lived. Beaten down by another monster, the raging inferno inside him was extinguished and his mighty form crumbled to pieces. Reduced to mere rubble, the fractured idol laid dormant on a tropical beach, nothing more than a tourist attraction. The humans came and went, posing for photos in front of his giant stone head, chipping off pieces of his body for souvenirs and covering him with graffiti. Little did they know that one day the same force that'd brought him to life would pull him back together, and that when it did, he'd remember every single one of them...
Updates:
*Agamo has a resistance to heat and takes reduced damage from fire attacks.
*Agamo has a slight weakness to cold-based attacks and takes increased damage from being frozen.
MAGMO. Defeated by his fiery rival, Agamo, Magmo melted down and slithered back to the caldera, nothing but molten rock. Powerless to reform his giant body, he spent the time between Wars oozing through the Earth's crust, setting off volcanic eruptions all across the globe. When the second wave of alien fuel finally descended, Magmo was more than happy to burst from the ground and take shape again. Setting fire to everything in his path, he set off in search of his most hated foe...
Updates:
*Magmo is immune to heat-based attacks and does not take damage from being set on fire.
*Magmo's molten body is dangerous to touch. If a monster grabs Magmo, they will slowly lose health from holding him. When he struggles, it makes their health go down faster (instead of reducing their energy).
*Magmo is very weak to cold-based attacks and takes heavy damage from being frozen.
PREYTOR. With her speed and predatory cunning, Preytor was one of the very last monsters to fall in the War. Eventually brought down by a combination of fighter planes and monster attacks, she plummeted into the streets of Metro City and burned to cinders. It was a victory celebrated around the globe: finally, a monster had not only been defeated, but utterly, permanently destroyed with no chance of its return. Unfortunately for mankind, she was not the last of her kind. Hatching from an egg hidden in the debris, the daughter of the original Preytor emerged, and just in time to absorb the falling radiation from Cerebulon's ship...
Updates:
*Preytor has a high resistance to cold-based attacks and takes reduced damage from being frozen, but also loses energy from it.
*Preytor is slightly weak to fire and takes increased damage from being burned.
RAPTROS. Unprepared for the fury of the modern world, Raptros was beaten within an inch of his life, forced to retreat and slink into the shadows. Biding his time through the "peace" between Wars, he sustained himself on human prey and the volcanic heat generated by Magmo's eruptions. When the alien fuel finally fell across the Earth he had already grown larger, stronger, and fiercer. With his recovery complete and then some, Raptros spread his wings and burned everything around him, setting off to dominate the world of man.
Updates:
*Raptros has only a slight resistance to fire, but draws strength from heat. He takes reduced damage from being burned and gains energy from it.
*Raptros is weak to cold-based attacks and takes increased damage from being frozen.
ZORGULON. Left behind when the alien armada was defeated, Zorgulon found himself stranded on the primitive Terran world the humans called "Earth". Gradually adapting to its atmosphere, he went into hiding, scavenging technology and rebuilding a small fleet of UFOs to serve as his minions. In time he would gather more parts, furthering his goal to construct a tachyon beacon and call his people back for another invasion... but first, he would have to deal with the monsters of Earth.
Updates:
*Zorgulon has no strengths or weaknesses.
*UFOs will not shoot at Zorgulon.

I'd want them to play mostly the same way they did in WOTM1, but if there were any things like that that'd make them more fun or unique to play as I'd definitely be open to tweaking their traits. Good sequels are all about making improvements, after all!

I came here hyperventilating of emotion when I know that these are my opinions of these new skins:
-VAMPIRE CONGAR: Seriously I did not expect this! I remember, before I heard that Valtoth would be a bat monster, I'm glad you dint waste this idea, I love when artists give an alternative use to cut Ideas.
-DEAD SEA TOGERA: Cthulhu is definitely something that has to be seen in anything related to the Kaiju, so I see his atomic breath will come out of the tentacles of his mouth, but I wonder what would be the appropriate color
-SPACE JAM KINETICLOPS: Take long to know why his eye is replaced by a basketball ball, then I realized that this is out of Space Jam movie when the Monstars stole the talent of NBA players and deposited in a basketball ball, we all love that movie so we all love this skin too, stay perfect this skin in the animation when his remove his eye and bounces off the ground like a ball.
-STEAMPUNK ROBO-47: This is definitely much more steampunk than Magmo's third skin, cool redux of Robo-47 retro skin of the original WOTM
-UNITED MEGAFORCE ULTRA V: Yes, Yes YEEESSSS!! my always haunt me when several machines are combined into a giant robot, so I'm a fan of the Power Rangers! I love how you robotized some monsters to form each part of the body!
-LOST CITY AGAMO: This certainly is the perfect design that a rock monster must have, seems to have a relation to Agamo's return.
-HELL ENCOUNTER MAGMO: Really I dint expect a demon-like organic version, but the truth something that a demon would fit perfectly with something related to lava!
-CYBER PREYTOR: Yes! Preytor robot is back, but improved, seriously those big green shine and laser blades come in handy!
-FOSSIL RAPTROS: Raptros skeletal turned once more! Really is need a skeleton monster
-CEREBULON ZORGUNLON: Perfect, totally perfect! with this along with Vegon II Colossus and now we can play with all the bosses of the original WOTM!
i dont know what i wanna see soon, the new skins of new monsters, or the not even seen new monsters !

Let's see if I can get all the references with these skins:
(In order)
Congar: The Yeti, Frankenstein's Monster, the Ro-Man, a vampire or bat monster of some sort
Togera: Mechagodzilla, either Anguirus or Irokus, a demon, and Cthulhu
Kinecticlops: Veins and Space Jam
Robo-47: Soviet attack 'bot, WWI German machine, one of Dr. Eggman's robots, and something else
Ultra V: A female bot, and a Megazord.
Agamo: A Jack o' Lantern, a snowman, and SotC.
Magmo: Some sort of infernal machine, a skeleton, and a demon from the new Doom.
Preytor: An ant, a flower mantis, a mantis shrimp, and a mecha-mantis.
Raptros: A war dragon, the Jersey Devil, and a bone dragon of some sort.
Zorgulon: ...Yeah, I got nothing.

DinoHunter2 In reply to Lediblock2 [2016-10-15 18:17:55 +0000 UTC]
Alright, here's the full breakdown:
Congar 1: Added shackles and scars as nods to King Kong 1934 and 2005, and because he's done a lot of fighting and escaped from captivity. Originally I was going to alter all the original monsters like this to show what they've been through since the first game, but it wound up being too difficult to pull off. I figured it still made sense for Congar because he has arguably the plainest design and could use the extra flair, and because (if I recall correctly) he and Preytor were kind of viewed as the roster's unofficial "main characters".
Congar 2: Yeti, returning from the first game. Made the head taller just to make the nod a smidge clearer.
Congar 3: Cyborg, returning from the first game. I'm not sure if the original was referring to anything specific or just the cyborg ape/monster trope in general, but I redesigned mine to have an undead, mad scientist aesthetic as a nod to the unmade Kong films where he tangled with Dr. Frankenstein.
Congar 4: Alluding to Ro-Man from Robot Monster.
Congar 5: Vampire bat monster. Just a general monster trope that fit well with his powers.
Togera 2: Mecha-Godzilla / Mechanical Doppleganger reference returning from the first game. Moved it up to the second slot to replace the bluish-purple skin because I've never met anyone who liked or used it. Gave it a little bit of a redesign just to make it more than a recolor.
Togera 3: This one was meant to be a broad reference to Showa era dinosaur kaiju in general, since they were usually spiky with dull, earthy color schemes. Was definitely thinking of Anguirus, an akylosaurus, and Irokus, though.
Togera 4: Demon skin, returning from the first game. The redesign probably wasn't necessary, but I'll level with you, drawing horizontally curving horns from a profile view sucks and I changed the skin to avoid having to do it.
Togera 5: Mostly Cthulhu, but also a tip of the hat to Hextorga from 's own WOTM2 project.
Kineticlops 3: Reference to The Crawling Eye.
Kineticlops 5: Absolutely Space Jam. Also because Kineticlops already plays basketball in his victory taunts, and because one of the game designers from WOTM was also a creative director on NBA 2K15.
Robo-47 2: Soviet.
Robo-47 3: German.
Robo-47 4: Futuristic, reference to the 70s Cylons.
Robo-47 5: Steampunk.
Ultra-V 3: Slightly altered from a skin in the first game, the colors are a nod to Getter Robo. It was originally going to have an axe to make the reference more obvious, but there wasn't room to draw it.
Ultra-V 4: Female version returning from the first game. I think it's more of a general nod to the feminine mechas that often show up as side characters in super-robot anime, not anything specific. Could be wrong though.
Ultra-V 5: Definitely in reference to the Megazord, but also Voltron, Gurren Lagann, and combining robots in general.
Agamo 3: Jack-O-Lantern.
Agamo 4: Evil Snowman. More of a general trope but I guess you could single out ClayFighter, the snowman-in-hell from Earthworm Jim, or the horror movie Jack Frost.
Agamo 5: Dormant/overgrown. Originally it was also going to be defaced with graffiti like in the backstory and 's comic, but with such a small drawing I couldn't make it look good, so I opted for more plants instead. Shadow of the Colossus wasn't the goal when I started, but I definitely see it.
Magmo 2: Just a more fiery, molten version. In the original game Magmo has two different skins that kind of fit into that category, one that's recolored red-orange and one that's mostly plateless with flames, so I just combined them into one skin so he could have more variety.
Magmo 3: Junkyard Mech / Furnace, more or less unchanged from the first game.
Magmo 4: Demonic skeleton. Also a reference to Atomic Skull and Ghost Rider.
Magmo 5: A demon of the flesh-and-blood variety. Inspired by the cyberdemon from Doom 2016 and the ogres from Dragon Age.
Preytor 2: Flying ant. Mostly the same as in the original game, just made the wings permanent and the ant anatomy more obvious.
Preytor 3: Orchid mantis.
Preytor 4: Mantis shrimp.
Preytor 5: Mecha-Mantis, back and redesigned from the first game. I always liked that skin and knew a lot of other people who did as well, so I decided to bring it back. As far as I know it's just referring to mechanical dopplegangers in general, but the giant, silver mantis from the cover of the Goosebumps book "A Shocker on Shock Street" does come to mind. I know I always thought it was a robot as a kid.
Raptros 3: Mostly a nod to the Fell Beasts from Lord of the Rings, especially the Peter Jackson movie version, but also the dragon riding trope in general.
Raptros 4: The Jersey Devil.
Raptros 5: The skeletal skin, back from the first game. I know this was a lot of people's favorite Raptros skin and I felt bad excluding it (originally done because I thought it would be too time consuming and I had lots of other options), so back it went. Pretty common monster type in fantasy stuff, not a specific reference.
Zorgulon 2: Technically a redesign of the bluish skin from the first game. I redid the colors to make it a nod to the Metaluna Mutant from This Island Earth.
Zorgulon 3: A general reference to insectoid-looking aliens, which are pretty common in science fiction. If you wanted to look at it as something specific, I guess that kind of includes the Zerg from Starcraft, Tyrannids from Warhammer 40K, and Arachnids from Starship Troopers.
Zorgulon 4: Reference to War of the Worlds, mostly the Tripods. The green/red/blue lights are specifically a nod to the probes and Martians from the 1953 film version.
Zorgulon 5: Cerebulon, the final boss from the first game. People have always wanted him as a playable character, but he's basically just a scarier version of Zorgulon, so I made him a skin. For functionality's sake he's wearing a mechanical backpack like they do. They're clawed and numerous in reference to his 2nd form in WOTM, and his loading screen poster.
Everything else is either a default look or a simple recolor (either returning or altered from the first game).
