Description
This was done for my photography class. We had to take images in black and white, highlighting compositional elements such as light, contrast, texture, etc.I've had this dude hang around my room for a while, so i decided to put him to good use. The photoshoot was rather fun, and this is the result. I know it's not the most original idea ever, but i felt compelled to reproduce something like this.
Suggestions: It has been suggested to reshoot and have the 2 shadows point in the same direction. I only realized this when it was mentioned to me. Until then, i just wished that the shadows were more similar, rather than one darker than the other. This can be taken in different ways and even add something to the picture. I will keep these suggestions in mind, along with any that you throw at me in your comments, which are greatly appreciated of course, just like all feedback i get

Brilliant idea though. Love the execution, despite the two shadows pointing in two different directions. It took me a second to realise it was a polaroid -- at first I thought it was touching itself on the other side of a mirror.
Got to love them puppets

Very nicely done. Reminds me of the work of one of my favorite artists, whom I'm sure would have gotten a kick out this interpretation.... his work can be seen here [link]

This is a great shot. Very clean and I love the b/w.
I have no suggestions, I like it a lot this way but yes, if the shadows were similar it would look even better.

I think that if the shadows were in the same direction then it would cover the second guy. I like it the way it is. But yes, I would somehow darken the bigger guy's shadwo

I don't have a problem with the shadows not pointing in the same direction, because when I first saw this photograph I didn't see it as the man reaching down towards a mirror or a "reflection" of himself. I saw the man in the in the photograph seperate from the other.
I think you did a great job with this, I love it.

Heh, great job! I like the pose on the little guy ^_^ So did you first take a picture of the woodman from above, then printed it, and then shot it like that?
PS: Its funny how the Canon EOS300D is named "Digital Rebel" In the States )

ah, wow, this is great... like, seriously, the idea and originality of this is really good, like, it's so different from what the usual is, and it's so cooL!
I love the way they're reaching, at first I thought it was a mirror ...but, yeah, that's really cool, the shadows are great and are a great addition to the whole thing... good contrast with the lighting too
the B&W works well for this because it helps to focus on the lighting and shadows...
haha, and office space rules

This is excellent, taking a photography class myself soon; hope I can make something as good as this
I actually think it would be better looking if the shadows are facing opposite directions, increases the mirror feeling, that's just me though. Opposite sides of the glass, baby.
