This painting shows the murderous dwarf brothers Fjalar and Galar creating the mead of poetry. They had killed the wise being known as Kvasir and mixed his blood with honey in their cauldron known as Odrerir. Drinking the mead would bring you the gift of telling the truth poetically. I wonder if this was a story to describe that what people say when they are pissed of might sound gibberish but have an air of admitting the truth about it.
