Mega Man's brother infected by Dark Data's dark chip and is the boss of the third Dark Data Hideout stage. Up until this point Proto Man acts as a penultimate rival claiming "freedom" from his defective energy core. This adjusting of his defective energy core has changed his personality and identity. His helmet design is an in-between of the one for Break Man and his typical helmet, giving him a bit of a "ninja-like" design.

Thank you to Draikou for putting together the art of Dark Proto Man; this art is done in the same style as most of the fortress boss designs where they are partly silhouetted.
