Description
Marina never did anything in a kitchen before. You can clearly see it the way she mutilated the last carrot. ^^But Silver starts giving her some lessons starting with how to handle a knife and the difference between slicing, carving, and hacking.
Of course, while he's teaching her here, her heart starts pounding hard as she is listening to the kind tone in his voice. It's as though his voice was softly kissing her ear. And she begins to enjoy the feeling of his hands so gently touching hers.
This is a scene that will happen eventually in my story. It has been in my head for a long time now and I have finally finished it. I made a sketch of it a long time ago and I finally decided to redo it and I know I made it a lot better.
I used a bit of reference for Silver's arm, the lighting, and mainly the background. The background was such a pain and turned out awful, so I improvised by making it extra blurry and made some steam around the place.
I think I made Marina a bit too small for this pic, but right here, I think it all looks a little cute. I mean the gentle giant has his arms around the little lady. ^///^
LOL. I know you're gonna think that those carrot things are WAY too big. But hey, this does take place in an 'alien' universe or such. They could've grown on a very fertile planet where the vegetation grow large and tasty. ^_^
Anywho, I wanted to really submit this when the chapter of it happening came up. But I realized that it's been a while since the last submit of Silver and Marina. So, here it is, and you can think of it as a preview of what's going to go on between the couple.

It's my guess that he was taught by his father. I mean, he mentions his stew being an old family recipe. Maybe his father was a ship cook. But I'm just guessing that.

I actually really like the shape of Marina's face in this one - you usually give her a really strong lower jaw, and she kind of looks her age here now.
Plus, she looks snuggly.

Cute! You can improve by adding in more shading around the girl's chin, armpit as well as under her bust. Same thing for John, add shadow in to his mechanical arm especially!
I will be heading down to Disney after my freshman year of college, maybe Ill see you!

I agree with the others, this is much better than the original sketch. a few things I don't anyone has mentioned: I think Marina's face would look more appealing if her jaw was a little wider and more rounded. In many of your pictures her aw has a very sharp, triangular shape which makes it look too small compared to the size of her mouth and somehow "pushed a bit too high up in her face". You could also consider making her entire face longer and add a little more space between her mouth and nose would give her a more balanced look.

I'm not one to talk about anatomy, but her waist still seems a bit too thin.
On the good side, can I just say how I'm so glad that you've elongated her face? It makes her seem like a more mature beauty! Her expression is also nicer here.

Big improvement from the sketch! My main thing was said earlier by VPA, but her non-cutting hand would not be holding the end of the carrot.

Well, her anatomy, lighting, color, character design, and understanding of how to apply all of these is seriously below the level you'd expect to see in a professional. Actually, they're below the level you'd expect to see in someone who went to art college too.
Sorry, you asked.

Actually, one worker at Disney doesn't have to do all alone color, animation, clean-up, light, character design, etc. Every worker has a specific section they work on.

You're replying to something I posted a couple of years ago, but that's ok. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
You are right. However, working at Disney is highly competitive, and you have to be beyond competent at all of those things to get a job.

You know...okay, before I start let me say that I'm not jumping down your throat or anything like that. Not playing the 'White Knight' here. So I'm sure you can appriciate the oppinion I'm about to express.
The best thing about deviantART is also the worst; anyone can put up their art. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder', so the saying goes. I commented; I told her what I thought of it. And after you replied to my comment to HER, which can be(and in this case is) considered rude, I looked around a little.
Everyone is entitled to their own oppinion, but you genuinely seem to be a fine-line bully; you mess with her just enough to bug people, but you have all your bases covered so you don't get reported.
And another thing. Can you draw the way she can? I mean, you obviously think you've got enough expirience to judge her(and yeah, I've read somewhere that she even asks you for your critique somewhere).
Let me provide you with some interesting information. Have you seen the crap that Disney airs on TV at the moment? Phineas and Ferb and so on. They have computer programs that would animate these cartoons better. So yeah, I do think she's doing a better job.
And another thing that interests me. How do you know so much about her? Why do you remember it? And why do you seem to be unable to resist the urge to jump into her conversations when someone compliments her?
There are a ton of artists on dA that do a way worse job than she does. I should know; I'm one of them. Sometimes her level of skill is all the rest of us want. Personally, I can't picture being able to draw that well. I'm self-taught, so yeah.

I disagree with most of the things you've said, but you make an interesting observation here. VPA's persistent desire critisize Disneyfan makes very little sense, considering how long she's been on it. I think She claimed once that she's doing is besause she believes somewhere deep down that Andrea's worth it, as if she sincerely wants her to improve. Her critiques are valid, But she's been doing it for god knows how many years, with few, if any, results. And she knows Andrea will never fully comprehend her criteques. Why she keeps it up is beyond me.

The best thing about deviant art is that people can post critiques and opinions. All your conversations are public, and open for comments. So, I reject your idea that it's 'rude' to jump in on a public forum.
I am not a bully. I am harsh, but I am honest and constructive. This site is for art critique, and I've done nothing I could be 'reported' for. Report me for offering on an art critique site? That's hilarious. And yes, she has asked me for advice and critiques.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, human anatomy and color theory ARE NOT. I'm self taught as well. And no, I actually don't draw much. I just studied it as a hobby but never practiced enough to develop my own technique. That doesn't mean I don't have knowledge of theory.
I've been critiquing her for a few years now. And *gasp* I have the mental capacity to remember things she's talked about and posted. Are you actually being critical because I actually have learned a few things about her in all this time?
Honestly, the only reason I jumped in was because it really looked like her answer was misleading. You asked if she worked for Disney, meaning the studio, and she said yes because she works in the park, leading you to believe she worked for the studio.
Though, Andrea has serious problems understanding what people post, and how he responses come across to others, so I doubt she realizes she did this.
And yes, if you talk to her long enough you'll realize that very often, her replies will become bizarre and relate to nothing you actually said.

3 years? wow. Why are you doing it? most of the issues with Marina's anatomy in are the same as 3 years ago, the improvements are minimal and you know DF will never comprehend more than 5% of the thinsgs you say.
