hahahaha, but it's part of the feather painter's code to scare everyone ...erm, ....into trying feather painting. Problem is, I'm not seeing many people getting past the frightened stage and actually picking up a paintbrush yet...

Sweet tutorial... I'll probably never give it a shot (no good at painting really ) but it's good to know that there is something like this for those curious and patient enough!

Hello! I really like this technique, even though I must admit I hear for the first time about it -.- Well, I got a question, as something is not clear to me. How do you "join" the feathers? I mean, do you glue them or tie them or how do you make them stay together?

dittin03 In reply to Yukinai [2007-09-15 14:40:58 +0000 UTC]

Well, you can get as creative as you like when trying to make them stay where you want them. Glue might make the feather's barbs split apart, but if it's a thick glue it might not. You might also want to think about gluing them down to card stock or mounting board before you start painting. You could also use tape. I've found that works well, but there are probably lots more ways than that. If anyone finds a way that works, let us know!

Oh, and the painting itself will often hold the feathers together

sorry your comments are really old but if you are still feather painting (or trying to) I've heard spraying with clear spray paint helps to stick the feathers together. Hope that helps!
