No actually it's a wierd deal but they also copy the other pokemons pp so actually... it won't ever end. Trust me I have tried this already I KNOW.

I think in gen 2 this wasn't possible because transform can only work once now.
Bulbapedia says that on and after gen 2 that transform will fail if used when another pokΓ©mon has used transform first and doesn't switch out.
Meaning there's no more infinite stall wars using transform, as then after using transform at least 10 times, the other Ditto will start using Struggle.

In 3d gen a pokemon useing transform agenst a shiny pokemon would turn shiny. Sadly it was not purmenit. (trust me Iv tried. lol)

Did you know that in Pokemon Stadium 2, if you had a shiny Ditto, it would actually transform into a shiny version of the Pokemon it was copying? Sooo awesome. |D
