Just look up reference material and keep it handy ^_^ That's how I got the dress

I'll practice animating stuff before I get into any difficult projects

References can help pretty much anything, that and simplifying the forms into basic shapes like a circle

It depends. I learned how to use a wacom Bamboo tablet first, then I got an Asus Slate, and the school has Cintiq's now, so I use those. :3
