A far distant relative to Trolls & Ogres hailing from the lands of Ancient Greece. Cyclopes are characterised by their immense strength, size & of course the prominent sole eye that befits their face, rumours go as far as this very eye is enough to peer into the beings of all it sees…

— Grimoire passage from the Tapster

HABITAT RANGE

Cyclopes are Behemoths endemic to the southernmost parts of the Shattered Euro where many are native to majority of the ruins of Greece as well as its countryside. Most populations of Cyclopes have been distributed within the Attica peninsula, particularly the southern regions that is  Laurion. Cyclops inhabit caves, caverns & the very bowels of mountains & ruins.

ECOLOGICAL NICHE

Cyclops are Neofauna classified as troglodytes, secluded to a subterranean lifestyle within caves. Theoretically the cause of the Behemoths dynamic evolutionary pathfinding its been speculated that Cyclopes descended from a primate ancestor in which became accustomed to a trogloxenic lifestyle. Over a period of time that lifestyle then transformed into a troglobiont condition where the species became exclusive to life inside caves. Due to this extensive subterranean lifestyle the eyes of the Cyclops devolved to the point of becoming eyeless but evolving a psionic organ to compensate to this. In addition the behemoth has shed its fur & compacted thick fat to insulate heat.
Despite this strict binding within its cavernous dominion Cyclopes have on occasion ventured from its lairs found above ground usually when food or water becomes scarce however at times it had been speculated that this is solely accidental in which the Behemoth would merely stumble through coincidence.

Cyclopes are omnivorous behemoths in which their dietary intake is solely gained towards almost anything they can find in a dark underworld. In caves vegetation is limited however not obsolete, Cyclopes would feed on various forms of algae, moss, liverworts & fungi to supplement their diet in which many species are nutrient rich or highly saturated with water absorbed from the cave itself. Cyclops would also prey on cavern dwelling organisms particularly Aberration larvae but will also suffice on carrion. Cyclops would often target trogloxene organisms like Wargs & Direbats who would come into their caves to rest or shelter from the elements in which grants an opportunity for the Behemoth to ambush these guests. However despite being accustomed to prey inside the caverns Cyclopes have been known to venture outside in which these behemoths have targeted herbivorous Diremorphs like Tall elk, Razorbacks, Direhorses, Direcattle & Jumbucks within the parameter of the cave entrance.

Unfortunately as the opportunist omnivores they are Cyclopes are known to even hunt humans who are nearby or use caves as shelter in which land them as XXXX targets, on rare occasions regarding them as maneaters. Due to this behaviour that would become accustomed to the behemoth if left unnoticed Paladins are immediately telegrammed to hunt & terminate the threat. Cyclopes are also hunted by Paladins for their eyes in which is often tasked by Apothecaries for research into Psionics & perceptive alternatives. Extremist cultists such as the Children of the Gate would often disguise themselves as anonymous folk would hire Paladins & Oathbreakers to hunt the Behemoths for the same reason, however as far as superstitions travel rumours spread that the eye of the Cyclops could heal the blind or possibly gaze into the far future. A superstitious belief that threatens the ecological fate of the Behemoth.

BIOLOGICAL ADAPTATIONS

The single large eye of the Cyclops is what grants the Behemoth its name. Due to living within caves & large cavernous ruins like factories, warehouses or even shopping malls the Behemoth over time had devolved to became eyeless, however this in turn paved the Behemoth to gain an extrasensory perception through alternative means.
Cyclopes are regarded Psionic class organisms (PCO) in which their central eye like organ enables the Behemoth to detect other organisms as well as their surroundings through telepathy. The Eye of the Cyclops is specialised in locking onto the brainwave patterns of an organism often pinning groups as a means of targeting prey & mapping their surroundings as a form of psychokinetic echolocation. This Extrasensory perception is a common method shared amongst other PCOs using evolved electrosensory organelles known as ampullae in which due to DEP accelerated it to specifically target erratic & alternative changes in brainwave patterns, in other words the Behemoth can practically read the minds of other life forms using its large eye.

The Cyclops boasts immense strength due to an increased hypertrophic rate. From the moment a Cyclops is born this hypertrophic anomaly is already set to work as component cells begin to enlarge & swell thus increasing the volume of tissue & muscle mass respectively. In a way newborn Cyclopes are already as strong as a full grown gorilla & within a matter of weeks these infants would’ve reached the size of of a man.
At ages 10-12 a Cyclops had already reached adulthood & within that age they would’ve grown to the size of an African bull elephant. It would be easily presumptuous to assume how strong these Fomorian beasts had become. The strength of a Cyclops enables them to easily pulverise all that meets their bare hands often throwing rocks, uprooting trees, level building ruins & of course take on larger predatory threats.

Accompanying their elephantine strength the Cyclops are known to generate powerful shockwaves by clapping. Unbelievably no Cyclops in the wild could create shockwaves until it had been recently discovered as well as learned by the captive specimen named Bronte. Within the Arkansas Neofauna reserve Cryptozoologists had studied Bronte within the span of his life at age 2 in which the Behemoth grew accustomed to the company of humans as if he was one of their own. During his examination an intrusive Stirge found itself within the Behemoths enclosure where he tried to siphon the blood of the giant, reacting poorly to the bite the Cyclops intently began to swat at the pest. Upon then aggressively clapped the pest so hard that a shockwave was produced easily shattering the bulletproof ballistic glass that was intended as a viewing point for examination.
With this new discovery & potential to be learned as well as passed down through generations the Paladins had dubbed this act as the Thunderclap. Though Bronte was merely an adolescent it had been speculated that a full grown adult Cyclops could deliver a blow measuring just over mach 1, which is merely enough to decimate building structures & send vehicles flying within the blast.

BEHAVIOUR

The aggressively territorial nature of the Cyclops is closely tied its perception of its surroundings, if the Behemoth is unable to sense its prey it will remain oblivious to its presence. Cyclops will attract themselves to large groups of organisms in which detection becomes broader in comparison to small or single entities.
