Thanks! Well I guess everyone has their personal taste but still I am curious for the reason you hate them.  
For me, ball points is the closest thing to something you could refer as an "inky" pencil, and apart from the inevitable occurring ink blobs, it's such an easy medium to work with.

I just could never really control them that well, I much prefer the harsh lines of a roller ball pen.

Funnily enough, roller balls are the ones I can't manage at all. Perhaps only when they are almost dried out.
