Man, I love that shit! I'm a big fan of curvilinear stuff like that. It's reminiscent of Kazuhisa Kondoh's mobile armor, the G3. No slam there, btw; he's one of my influences.
Overall, I'm really impressed by your work. I hope to have a big-ass gallery of cool machinery myself this year!

I can understand why you like Kondoh's designs, but sadly the younger fans today prefer a humanoid shape machine. Which is pretty ... overused. I study Kondoh's machine a lot too, they make pretty good platform for massive assault fortress designs.
Haha glad you liked my works. I cant wait to see what you gonna roll out of the hangars.

Yep, the fans prefer whatever they're told to prefer. The Gundam-style platform is done to death (which is why I'm looking forward to Gundam Unicorn - Universal Century allows non-Gundam mecha).
As to what's coming next - the feeling is mutual. I can't wait to see what you come out with next. Our imaginations just refuse to be put in little boxes! ^_^

Haha i guess the good old Mecha artist all has a thing against the new CE gundam series. I am the same too.... i prefer the older UC gen then the new counterparts. After all ... half of ZAFT designs are just reuse and remodify the old UC Zeon MS. Which is sad cause that means there no effort to create newer and technically logical machines. All the designs in CE are just too flashy and not even practical for war.

Indeed. The CE series just got to me because all the mechs were FrankenGundams. Even worse, Kunio Okawara (designer of original Gundam) was doing them! I mean, why bother, right? How about they just use cutouts like South Park and call them "Gundam" if they're not going to actually work on the designs?
Anyway, it looks like Unicorn is going to give us mecha-junkies what we truly want - a continuation of the mobile-suit arms race that was trending toward big, bigger, biggest. Gundam Sentinel, even though it's a fan-made side-story, really gives an idea of the culmination of the trend. I do believe that eventually, UC would be dominated by Newtype-piloted one-person battleships, eventually rendering both the United Earth Federation and the Zeon fleets obsolete.

Ha ha well sometime we cant jump to conclusion on the fraken gundams trend, Kunio probably i under pressure by his superiors to produce at a cost efficient rate. Creating newer are original gundams will cost extra and well, truth be told, bosses hate paying extra if it can be avoided. But i do have a degree of agreement on the cut and paste issue. Fans of gundam usually cut and paste and claim as an original Gundam design, and then when you point it out .. they get all defensive and become 6 years old lolz.
Well there was one Massive MA catered to the one person battleship idea. In the Sentinel Novel there was a unit called Zo Diac, (or what ever the translation in english was given) it was pretty close to the idea you mentioned. Huge fast and nasty.... too bad we never got to see the fully armed version tho. In the novel, the mention it was only partially completed.

Looking sweet so far, but check your details again. Some don't match up perfectly, like the line across the tan camera pod. Those tiny imperfections detract from the whole piece.
I'm excited to see the finished product, man!

LOL thanks for the head up. LOL those are not camera pods... they are actually turreted vulcans, the round things serve as a armor cap to protect against flax shrapnels.
I will fix the lines later.

..i think the brown frame is too harsh (dark hue) and detracts from the overall image...and there is a bad tangent point where the yellow square touches the top of the ship...
as far as layout...all the elements are pointing left...in an unbalanced way...(including the type)
color- your overall pallette appears dark and over-saturated ....i think you should mess around with your hue options and color balance in photoshop...and explore your options...maybe you'll find some color combinations that might surprise you...
the design is lovely...i just think your color decisions don't accentuate the elements in your design....(look at construction tools....you know exactly what the thing does and how it works based on color designating function..)...structural color

I will be doing a platform, but one at a time hahahaha. Cause there is the crews, truck, part, logo to design still.

I'm really liking the design. It's filled with so much awesome that my lil' bro is scolding me on how pitiful and awful my mech designs are... I guess that's what I get for asking for constructive input, heheh.
Seems kinda flat in some areas, but it's a work in progress, so I think you'll catch 'em before you call it a day.
Keep up the great work and I'm excited on the final product. Good luck in the contest (^-^)!

LOL thanks .... you should not put yourself down to hard in mech design. Ask any mech artist here that have reach a certain lvl in their mech design. They too went through a period when they mechs looks pathetic, even i am no exception.
My only advise, work hard on getting the shape and perspective right, don't worry too much about original mech design first. Just master the first two then you gradually move on to the next step, which is new designs, aesthetic or realistic look, then an endless study on more designs from games/ anime / movies for them big guys.
And thanks for the support too.

DRa90NBoi In reply to dlredscorpion [2008-01-04 10:15:47 +0000 UTC]
No prob.
Ah, I always put myself down. I guess I have to keep working hard until that time comes, heheh. I just have a bad habit of jumping back and forth between subjects and themes that it's sometimes hard to keep up with it all. Mechs and mechanical design have always been an interest of mine. I just wondered why I never pulled enough time and will to keep on practicing it at all...
Shapes and perspective are no biggie for me (I hope, heheh). I actually wished I spent more of my time in the conceptual phase in working out the design (for the particular mech I am working on right now), but I am pressed for time and just rushed to the construction phase, making stuff up as I go. Designing is sure hard when you try to incorporate a lot of features into one machine, and trying to keep it relatively realistic, sacrificing style for science, heheh. I'm like: it's gotta have this hinge here so it'll work, and I gotta leave some space here so a piece can move around there, etc., etc.; and my brother keeps saying that it's all junk and should just look completely cool and operate without having a jumbled mess of parts and stuff that make it look totally off. Or at least that's my interpretation of it, heheh. But I get what he means. My design just doesn't look awesome enough, so I gotta keep workin' on it...
Hopefully I can finish mine before the deadline. School's gonna start real soon for me and it'll be a pain to work on it any time during.
Thanx for the advice, and once again: Good luck (^-^)!

Umm... basically you are make up a short interview of your machine and crew by one or more of the officials. This can be done in any form, including a comic, one-panel... thingie, or a 3D animation. But whatever kind of format you feel like making up through. And it can be however you imagine the interview would happen.
I hope I helped, if not, try asking dire-musaesra or electromancer

LOL im playing for a little realism. And as most Aeriel design goes .... speed is a winning factor for them. Unless you are Pyscho Gundam or Detroy Gundam. Those big guys are Floating Fortress so its senseless to go too fast.
