Yeah. Although I am not much of a Mario person, Super Paper Mario was one I sort of enjoyed, and Fracktail made a good 1st boss.
Oh, and there was even an enhanced version of him at the end of the 1st Pit of a Hundred Trials, called "Wracktail."

Fracktail WAS similar in appearance to Hooktail so it would make sense they would be battles with dragons.
I remember watching that video Wracktail had a pretty awesome battle location!
