Interesting method, though you might be able to get shingles in sheets from doll house manufacturers.

This is wonderful! I fully intend on building my own based on your wip. Thank you for posting! By chance, do you know the name of this type of architecture? I know it's German in origin. Thank you!

Are those windows and doors balsa wood as well? Or where do you get them?

Those are polyurethane castings, some of Mordheim windows, some of my own sculpts. So I don't have to build every single window ever

you just paint it straight ahead?, cause if i'm correct priming it with a spray can will melt the pink foam

Yeah, I just splash some wall paint on them. Gives a lot more texture and, yes, the spray melts the foam :-P

this is so amazing...will need that when I'm going to build a warhammer village or town later.

Awesome! How do you texture the walls - I notive you've got a rough plaster-type effect going on?

That's actually just the paint. I paint the buildings with black paint to undercoat them and that creates some texture on the paper surface. Then I use a light color and just mash it onto the black surface when dry, which creates this kind of texture.

Oh right - I'll have to try that out I made a brief foray into building miniature houses and I used plaster to texture mine. Stippling it on with a brush works really well.

Nice walkthrough. I have to start making molds for windows :3
The only crit I'd have is the size of your shingles. They look really big. I'd make them 1 cm wide max

Sure, the shingles might look a bit big, but since they are so many, and each is applied individually, they really benefit from being a bit larger. :-P I think these are around 1 cm anyway and for each building I make I swear the next one will have larger ones and a less complicated roof. I never keep that oath. Glad you like it!

Great tutorial! I love how it all turned out, hopefully you'll be putting more up. Now if only I could find that thick card you're using...

Roofs or walls? For the roof you can use pretty much anything. I think this one is using the package of quick-pasta, but Corn flakes or similar boxes work as well. The walls are as mentioned made from foamcore, which you can find at craft stores in large sheets of different thicknesses. I think it's mostly used for architectural modeling but I've found posters mounted on it as well. Used such boards are a very cheap source of materials ^^
Glad you like it!

I was asking about the walls because I already have enough thin cardboard for roofs and such. Locally I can't find foam or foamcore except in construction materials stores and that tends to get too expensive. Hopefully I'll find some alternatives but so far no luck. Thanks for the tips anyway!
