Actually, though, I've found that my "just throw it together" doodles tend to turn out better than things I work on for longer periods.
Also, to be fair, my "doodles" tend to have a fair amount of time invested into them at the front end. That is, a ship model will take a while to build, but after that I can always yank it from the library and get something done in a hurry.
So, anyway...
