Description This model is in formats native to the following programs:

Blender 2.48
Daz Studio 2.3
Sketchup 7
Vue 6
OBJ compatible programs

Also included are the texture maps, in png format. Most of the UV mapping on the model was automatically generated, so extensive texture editing without re-unwrapping the model may be difficult.

This model uses a number of fairly large (2048x2048) texture maps. Use with caution on systems with limited RAM.

This model is essentially static, although the torpedoes can be moved or deleted.

Regarding 2D and 3D Resources:

Credit is ENORMOUSLY appreciated, but not required. That is to say, if you incorporate something, and forget to attribute it, I will not be hunting you down and demanding anything from you. However, I very much hope that you DO remember to tell people where you got this material, as it is a lot of work to create it!

If at all possible, I would love to see whatever it is that you've done that makes use of a resource!

=====

Developing free resources is a significant amount of work. If you are willing to donate via PayPal, it certainly makes development easier. [link]

Thanks, and enjoy!

Thanks for using the model! I really dig it when I get to see some "mileage" put on the meshes.

Thanks! I think I must be channeling some of my old Macross/ Robotech memories, because a lot of their coloring was pretty bright.

It's true - this kind of look isn't very "now." I've been trying to make things dirty and dark, but my success rate has been very low.

Cheers!

It looks cool but why don't you start texturing your models? Once you have a concept or design you're happy with, you could make a proper UV map and texture it so the textures don't look like random procedural images slapped on.

Hi DX,

I've actually been trying. My biggest problem is that of unwrapping all the geometry into something manageable...and then, the painting is something I haven't had a lot of practice at, which is another hurdle.

So, the bottom line is that I'm experimenting, and some experiments are better than others.

Yeah, the UV mapping part is never fun and even profesionals aren't extremely good at it. The problem is, you have to do it in order to texture things properly.

Procedural textures simply don't give you the shapes you need, so I suggest you make a very low poly model, UV map it (use google to look for tutorials if you need some), and then texture it in Photoshop. That way you'll get to learn something new, you'll get some practice and you'll also have the ability to really make your models look much nicer.

What would you charge to get these Just in PNG format?

Nothing at all - "The Wanderer's Guide" is meant to be a free resource.
