Description I made a slight modifcation to include Rotation in case anyone wants to try it.
I've also included Ray_of_Light_Batch2.asc which may be preferable because it does not save the original flame.

Ray of Light is an updated version of Ultra Smooth which stopped working properly several versions of Apophysis ago.
There are three scripts in the .zip file, one for single flames and one for a batch of flames.
Because of the nature of these scripts, they work best on simple flames with a few tranforms.

If you use this script please drop me a note so I can see what you've done
Here are a few examples of what these scripts do:

This script doesn't work for me, I've tried a lot of different settings but either I get a black screen or something ugly made of very thin lines.
I'm using Apophysis 2.07b, is it because it doesn't work on that version?

dmschenk In reply to vincentvc [2007-01-05 22:02:11 +0000 UTC]

That is probably because your gradient is dark OR because the flame expanded too much and is extremely thin

Make sure you try it with version 2.03...... unfortunately it doesn't work well with the earlier versions of Apo

OK I must comment again as I tried it again--this isn't the script I was having trouble with. But I LIIIIIKE it. The stuff it does to sinusoidals kick ass. I'm definitely going to be rendering a few with this script. Thanks for making me aware of them.

I came up--with =prophet118 's help--a variation on the run-of-the-mill spiralize script that comes out like Ray of Light, but in a more spiralized/rotational effect. Unfortunately, ever since the latest Apophysis versions, this variation has failed to work for the same reason yours once did.

What exactly did you do to fix the problem of Apophysis rendering out 100 plus triangles for the script effect? Because if it's basically a block of code, I could try to edit it into my tweaked spiralize script to modify the number of triangles down to something a little more manageable.

Sorry about the double-comment. If you want more on said script, just note =prophet118 . He also noticed this problem with that particular script of his, and had said to me that he'd work on the solution a few months back. But if you've found said solution, it may help other scriptors for Apo.

Just a thought.

there is provision for rotation in the script but I have it set to zero. if you play with the value you might find that it is similar

DeepChrome In reply to dmschenk [2006-03-26 05:33:08 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. Okay. I'll putz with. Right now, the stuff Rays does to sinusoidals so kicks I HAVE to render one of these. Thanks.

dmschenk In reply to DeepChrome [2006-03-27 03:54:50 +0000 UTC]

you might wanna try to use a larger smoothness variable like 0.0075 instead of 0.00075. I think the intial value I have entered might be too small

DeepChrome [2006-03-25 01:39:09 +0000 UTC]

OMG is this the fix for that "spiralizetweak" script I used to putz with? I had asked prophet118 to take a look into it since the program started giving me 100 "triangle" spiralizes that required a LOT of deletions to fix.

I just got a new vidcard which is on the order of 5x faster than my old one, so rendering has been basically like a wet noodle squished under a hammer: Unfugginggodly FAST. One render took only 3 hours, and would've taken 6-8 in the past, and the one I just did today took 1 hour 25 minutes?!

Anyways, thank YOU for coming up with this. I'm going to go over to Apo right now and try this sucker out.

yeh, i started working on it, then real life came crashing in, and left me with little time to do much of anything, sorry bout that

DeepChrome In reply to prophet118 [2006-04-23 05:14:28 +0000 UTC]

Not a problem. Oh, Apo 2.04beta's out. Sourceforge has it. You might like the new variations. Some look INTERESTING, but would take some triangle-tweaking and mutation-putzing to really get stuff out of them. I just did a 2-hour (for 3200xwhatever pixels OMG) render of one just to see how it'd turn out.

I'll post it soon.

yeh, i lurk on the apophysis list, i saw them mention it, but i really hadnt gotten a chance to go get it yet, just got back from dropping a friend off in florida... so i spent most of today sleeping

DeepChrome In reply to prophet118 [2006-04-23 22:41:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah there are those who say sleep is overrated, but they forgot how damn cool dreams can get.

I've been noodling with 2.04beta...the "noise" variation is my latest toy in there right now. (My last fractal uses it, and the next one I'll be putting up that I rendered yesterday uses it.) I'd say you can pull off some somewhat UF-looking stuff with it. Granted, it won't be the same, but it has a neat quality not all Apo fractals pull off unless you have really scrambled them good. The fact that I can get one of these looking so different from anything else I've done is a plus.

I've not yet completely sorted out the blur one, but the juliascope one looks interesting...

It's still over on sourceforge, so no problems getting it. Can't wait to render something tonight...

Say...print sizes? 5400 by...what was it 1500? I've forgotten the numbers you gave me. I need money for a Wacom Intuos so.... guess what...?

haha, yeh im probably going to buy a new tablet too, sold my intous3, probably gonna buy a cheaper graphire one, probably will be all i need

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeepChrome In reply to prophet118 [2006-04-24 01:37:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah well my current is an Aiptek. Probably a little below a graphire in quality, but I want something of much HIGHER quality, a little less work space, and would last even longer. And doesn't need a battery change in the pen every few months. :/

prophet118 In reply to DeepChrome [2006-04-24 03:27:31 +0000 UTC]

haha, well then intous is a pretty good match

neither the mouse nor pen require any sort of power

DeepChrome In reply to prophet118 [2006-04-24 05:19:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. The problem is that $350-400 price tag for an 8x6 Intuos3.
