Mood painting for First Ward, a backwater, post-apocalyptic CITY OF HEROES zone drenched in magic. Continual attacks from the Praetorian Hamidon managed to undermine the city's foundations, sinking downtown and forcing the survivors to the fringes.It's hard to miss the giant tentacle husks still clutching broken skyscrapers, the looming vortex, and the palpable sense of dread. And way in the distance, perched on a rocky cliff, you can just make out Mother of Mercy Hospital.

First Ward was my favorite zone in City of Heroes. It had such a gorgeous post-apocalyptic grandeur to it. Everything was breathtaking. Everywhere were interesting details that deserved closer looks. Eltentown was a fascinating ramshackle hive of a retro-fitted fortress. The Sunken City was like this Lovecraftian wasteland left behind after the nightmarish event you've depicted so beautifully above.Β Not only was First Ward an endless buffet of Armageddon eye-candy, it also had the really interesting and well-written story arcs that characterized all of Praetorian Earth in general. I miss it.

Thanks! The sunken city with monster still circling around it was definitely the visual high point of COH for me. Β Came together beautifully thanks to the hard work of a LOT of people.

It's hands-down our best-looking zone, and the missions are quite involving and spooky. Definitely check it out when you can.

First Ward has been among my favorite zones so far. I love the organic features, the post-apocalyptic trappings surrounded by the shattered remains of art deco stylings with the slow return of life among them. It's basically a big giant me trap.

I'm right there with you. I think I've gone through the story 4 times already and I don't really log that many game hours.
