Our last project, five, had us creating our own hinges and soldering them onto our containers. I chose to do something that had never been done before on this teacher. I chose to create a locket that was a pin that was oval that had a top that was domed that was also inlay. He had never had someone do inlay on a dome before. Makes you wonder why right? The reason is that the crushed stone needs to be ground down to the metal, well when your metal is circular, it makes it a bit more difficult to get them to match without ending up with flat spots. But I did it. As you can see in the photos above, it looks great. It latches by that little silver ball and a clear latex thread.
The stone is Malachite.
(Also...this was my first 100% that he ever gave me...)
