Description
That is THE Venture Brothers skull on that monitor. And if you are wondering; Jackson's desk is twice as tidy, and he has one of those Wacom monitors you can draw on. Jealous? I kinda am. But he still has a G4, and baby, mine is a G5... That is one more "G"!Related content

ViewSonic monitors are the best.
I've got one on my ancient Blue & White G3 Mac.
Got the VB season one DVD set. The wait for season two will be hellish! As will the wait for season three to begin airing on [adult swim].
For a cartoon show, the art is outstandingly and consistantly inspired.

I used a Cintiq at the place I used to work at. The one they had was a 15 inch, and its discontinued. You might be able to get it for cheap now...
That is if you aren't a resolution whore like me.
Oh it also looks like you don't NEED it anyway. XD

I'm digging the fact you have ~2~ Macs! I had a feeling you are a MacUser. I am, however, jealous you're allowed to smoke at your desk/in studio. Gone are the days of laying in a section and stepping back, thoughtfully drawing on your smoke, and admiring the spot you painted. ~sighs~

My desk is a leftover from the machine shop that used to occupy the same space that the AstroBase now occupies. It is odorless and weighs about 75 pounds. Once a steel desk with fake wood appointments 'till somebody painted the "wood" a retched grey color. Now it has the most unique patina in all of desk-dom. I love it to desk.

That's not the kind of "screen shot" one comonly imagines... You took "Devious Desktop" to a very literal level.
Is that two different computers on the monitors or is it a desktop that fits on both?

Doc-Hammer In reply to doommuffin [2005-06-08 02:14:29 +0000 UTC]
That is a classic Mac setup. It's dual monitors for one CPU. The smaller monitor on the left has my palettes on it, and I am using the larger one for the primary image. I'm working in After Effects in that pic. When I edit VB, I switch the setup around and use the small monitor as the viewing screen (as that it is calibrated to NTSC).
The wall paper can be set to have different images on each monitor. I have about thirty (slightly) different images that slide-show on my desktop (green on the right, purple on the left.) There is no symbolism in there... It just kinda happened that way.

Oh, I know the feeling. The monitor you bought years ago, the monitor you *found* somewhere, and then the ratty mousepad. That's just like my set-up. Except for all the episodes of VB. I have to download those because you guys won't release a DVD ...like ever. And our university ethernet is bandwidth limited... such a pain...
But yeah, you could take out another mortgage, sell your car, etc. and then buy one of those new mac monitors. I knew for me it was either college or Apple monitor.

wow...I wish I could keep my desk that neat. On a random...yet Astro Base realted note, I meant to ask this awhile ago...for my "random piece of junk" that came with my Astro Base shirt, I got a pic of these purple flowers outside...well, maybe they were actually weeds, but if so they were weeds that had pretty purple flowers on them...I was just wondering if there was any special reason you took a pic of them, or if it was just for the heck of it...or just so you would have a needless pic to send off as a piece of junk heh. You prolly won't remember it actually, so I'm gonna assume it was one of the last 2...am I right? lol

Doc-Hammer In reply to ebonystarfire [2005-06-03 14:00:59 +0000 UTC]
I have no idea what that was a picture of/from. Jackson didn't know its derivation either. We remember it, but never knew how it got in the AstroBase.
There were only a handful of actual photographs sent out. One was a blurry picture of my cat. And that one I could explain to you. But yours is actual crap. We said it was crap, and we don't lie. I hope you are enjoying it. And feel proud that you rescued a fully functioning picture of flowers from the garbage pail it was destined for. And feel semi-lucky, not many people got "crap" that is suitable for framing.

So just a random pic of flowers that somehow creeped it's way into the AstroBase, eh? I do feel very lucky to have it, it's a very pretty pic and I'm glad you sent it to me instead of throwing it away. If I pretend real hard, it's like you guys sent me a bouquet of flowers! Only...in a picutre....and..not really cuz it was sent as a piece of crap....and you don't really know me anyway....but I can pretend. Thank you very much for it though!

Geez, I also have a skull around my computer desk, for those times when I am free to paint a bit. In addition, I use a little clay model of a human head for portraits, easier to handle. Glad to check that I am not the only crazy one.

mallaard In reply to ??? [2005-06-02 21:56:38 +0000 UTC]
So, that skull is where all your ideas come from. I was wondering about that. I have a small assortment of super-deformed figures standing next to my now-dead machine, including big-head Darth Vader and a sippy cup with a plastic bust of Dr. Doom for a lid and a Burger King toy of that kid from the Fairly Oddparents trapped in the cup, as Dr. Doom's prisoner. Still, I don't get many good ideas from them. I used to have a cut-out Dogbert, Patron Saint of Technology from one of the Dilbert collections sitting on my monitor, but he kept falling off, which was of course a very bad omen.
That's the neat thing about skulls, you're never sure who's brain is still trapped inside.

Get the picture? Dude, I'm your costar in this picture. And the worst is when it is some vomit-like earth tone, like yellow ochre. And you get a dab of it on your shirt from holding a brush in your mouth then turning your head. So you try to wipe it off with turps, and that just spreads it around. You end up looking like you coughed-up all over your shirt. Attractive? Oh, hell yes!
We all have an oversized shirt that we paint in... But we wear them like 20% of the time. Because we are grownups.
