Building on the 'spending more time per piece' concept - this is about 8 hours of work over two days.Also a good skill stretcher for my hand brushing and also for playing with light and darkness some more. This also involves some flattening and post-processing with various combinations of layer styles -- I find using a desaturated liner dodge and overlay layer brings out interesting detail.

And I certainly can tell. I used a fairly large number of custom brushes for this (mostly the shadows) and I believe most of them are in my Resources collection. The pillar was mostly hand brushing using a wacom tablet.
