Imagine a time-warped dream
a sliced steel painting
flash fire suspended animation
ripped and slashed across the borders,
a place where images appear
and disappear as fast
as one can stand
and strike a match,
imagine a frozen lake
after an oil spill
flat dark as coal,
imagine a cartoon
splashed against a black wall,
imagine a night with fires
steaming depths of sights unseen
as they move from far away
creeping ever closer,
imagine seeing into something
looking so deep your eyes become useless,
imagine a cloudless day
watching the night hit like rockets
waiting for the shadows to come
and take you away,
imagine a time
you will never see
her skin warm
as she slips into sleep
like a beauty in some old tale
of the Mexican Revolution
