he kissed the ground
the earth towards which
he returned--
adorned redemption
came as a sigh
with wings--
only problem was
he wasn't 'round to witness
the attendance to his song.
*
the shadows hollered
and he feel silently accused.
*
i recall long ago
sketches he'd pen
and cloud formation
spotting underdog to the rescue
and poodle and even winnie.
ink still dribbles
wings ----among other things.

passing time waiting at the delta
watching over the storm drains
and tunnels filled with kilos of Colombian
it hits me she may be late
but I know she will come eventually,
here on these plains
you never know when the winds will change
no one will remember
hardly anyone will care but me
the words that vanished
into the morning light

stardust arrives by helicopter

the wings have it

flap flap flap
broken stylus
flap flap flap
we tended the remnants
flap flap flap
of what was
dipped
saturated
with the dye of life
chalk etchings
of y'er --
mole habitations
where in the drainage of
the bellowing above
consumed our sense of
comfort
constantly soaked with
its tears---
we dunned not garb
of fancy
but of truth
no one arrives
there is no archaeologist
inspired beings
who dig beyond the surface
crusted by time and the
pounding of soles/souls...petrifying the facade
the earth ---rises
the dust --our cloak our cover
mounts-- in
hunched below---
the pupils now trained
perceive not the delusions
above
perceive infinite nihilistic desire
while rodents kiss calloused soles
*
but wait
flap flap flap
a pin pricked sparkle
faint
flap flap flap
WHAT IS THAT SOUND!.
flap flap flap
like a cicada with tissue papered filaments
flap flap flap
one speck of glitter--
a blemish BAH!
*
slap slap
snap snap
enters the poet from 52nd street and 10th avenue
by way of hells kitchen
by way of not pleasant avenues...
snap snap
'yo yo yo...'
flap flap
mesmerized by a hint of light
the poet approaches
the perceived blemish and
tap tap tap
flap flap flap
flicking his fingers
the illumination increases
he now commences with eager urge
a breeze--gently kisses his brow
while another
hunched over
face to face with the dirt beneath
his chipped shoulders
his comfort zone...
denying the wings
that just took flight
out of
away from
the bellowing below
*
'yo yo yo'
snap snap snap
Iza flying
swirling
acrobatic tumblesaulting
in the sky
so blue
so fine
so true
*
'whats all this talk I hear about kilos of columbian cafe java joe...serve it black ---straight on!.

And yet...I was leaning towards
something far more profound.

simple is good
me like simple
simple tales
go ask simple
simple simon says...

well i could have said.....it was a secret code
or a president who knew the shenanigans
or a river we are searching for

simple is always good
simple is

funny you mention LH
one cool poem

Dream Variations
Langston Hughes
To fling my arms wide
In some place of the sun,
To whirl and to dance
Till the white day is done.
Then rest at cool evening
Beneath a tall tree
While night comes on gently,
Dark like me-
That is my dream!

To fling my arms wide
In the face of the sun,
Dance
! Whirl! Whirl!
Till the quick day is done.
Rest at pale evening...
A tall, slim tree...
Night coming tenderly
Black like me.
