Ruby was next to meet, and I returned to the castle to find her. When I got to her room, I noticed she had decorated it with flags, banners, ribbons, and anything else bearing America's famed colors of red, white and blue. An instrumental version of God Bless the USA was playing in the background, with Ruby filling in for Lee Greenwood (the original writer). Opal still sounds better, but Ruby is great to hear!

Ruby was born closest to our shores, and has witnessed all of our triumphs and tragedies. Ruby also shares a birthday with our nation (July 4). When Ruby's song ended, I knocked on her door, getting her attention. She then swam up to me and hugged me. She then gave me a salute.

"I am honored to have you back in our castle," she said.

I returned the salute. "I am honored to be back. Would you mind if I drew you once more?"

Ruby struck this pose and I took her picture. I began drawing this while she continued playing more patriotic themes on her music player. Her absolute favorite is our National Anthem: The Star Spangled Banner. Ruby got teary midway through the song.

When I finished this drawing, I showed it to her. She loved it enough to give me one of her scales, and a sweet kiss on the lips. Hard to tell which I liked most. Red is my favorite color, but it's not everyday a pretty mermaid gives me a peck on the lips!

I used stickers on the upper corners because I suck at drawing our flag (see original Ruby for proof). I also used a sticker of a patriotic banner that hangs behind her. There was plenty of room for it!

There are three special deviants who Ruby is dedicated to. First, my Best Friend Forever . He's the one who inspired me to join DA in the first place. Tell him thank you!

Ruby also goes out to , because she loves my new mermaids, and is also a sweetie.

Finally, Ruby is dedicated to , who seems to enjoy every mermaid I draw!
