Description
This started out as a concept painting of the character behind the wolf, then I extended the picture put the wolf in made the background. Then moved the wolf to the front and yeah that's how it wentI tried something a little out of my comfort zone, I think it turn out okay

It's good to leave your comfort zone as often as you can. It helps you find new ways of creating and overcoming old ways. My biggest issue with this piece is the lighting. It seems to have a harsh kind of light from the upper right which is cemented by the fact you see the lens glare in the lower left. However, the picture does not reflect that sense of light. It seems too dark for what you're trying to imply is there. It simply isn't in this case. As well I feel the composition could use a bit of work as it seems every point of interest is leading to the bottom right corner which rushes you off the page. There isn't much to bring you back into the painting. The snow has potential to do that since it contrasts with that angle, but it's too subtle at the moment. Just remember to keep your light source consistent!

Is this your original characters? I noticed you do a lot of fan art, which is all really good, but I really like this one. The clouds are awesome looking and you have a really good idea of light and color. Your textures are really good, too. The character behind the wolf looks really interesting. I wish I could zoom in on the image to get a better look. Where did you get this idea? It's really nice

Yes it is my own character, I got the idea from the Tuskarr from WoW (world of warcraft) but my character is more of a bear rat
I'm glad that you like this picture its one of my fav personal pictures
I guessing that you've figured out that I specialised within texture art for my honours. Learning textures have really helped me within my paintings
And yeah I guess fan art ideas tend to pop into my head more then personal, I have a lot more personal pictures I have not yet uploaded. Due to the fact that I'm writing graphic novels and I do not want to give anything away or for people to steal my characters / locations before release ^^

Nice job, good atmosphere. I think the lens flare kind of takes away from it over all, but I do like the color it adds.

I like the lighting. Reminds me of a really cold winter day when the sun is shining and eveything sparkles.
