Description
For a dear friend of mine who is having a little trouble with digital drawing - for you *CakeChan-x3 !Linework is the best thing I know how to do or else I would have tried to do more, and this is how I do all my pictures (and the reason why it takes so fecking long!) I hope people will find this helpful, and if you don't please don't complain because we all do things differently and this is how I do linework from a sketch (since I find it impossible to draw straight onto the computer - surly I'm not alone in this).
Here is the completed picture that I used in this tutorial:

i dont think its that easy, well not for me anyway. besides my sketch lines arent smooth enough for that and if i had to smooth them out it would take just as long XD
i do my lines differently now anyway on sai with the line edit and pressure tools. it works like a dream i tell ya! and doesnt take nearly as long >w<

sure, you can download it here: [link] and heres a video for installing if you need it: [link] (its where i got the download link from)
ive been trying to find the tutorial i used to learn how to do lines but cant find it. so if you want i can do a little join.me session now for you (if you have time) just to show you how to use the tools i use? if you want. but it may have to be quite short coz my eyes are a bit stingy from being on the computer so long XD

Well thanks for having the links for me. I appreciate it. You don't have to do a session just for me. That's nice of you to offer, but when i get my laptop, maybe we could do it later.

lol. I needed a new word for it. It was really interesting. So was he related to her or no?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DolceCapella In reply to Projekt-Z [2012-10-05 15:39:45 +0000 UTC]
well it was a great word!
and, well, its kind of open to interpretation as to whether he was telling the truth or making up stories or whether the photos were 'borrowed' or not. i personally think he was just a lonely old man who wanted to talk to people, and these stories (real or not) were just something he used to make his intrusion on peoples lives more comfortable for him XD so what do you think? - we live in an age where the 'author is dead' after all XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Projekt-Z In reply to DolceCapella [2012-10-10 16:12:38 +0000 UTC]
Well, I think he was rather lonely and raided photos that people didnt care about anymore. but i still like the story.

thanks so much
yeah i think i was going more for the they aren't actually his photos' approach, but now im not sure if the stories are true...

I don't understand, what is this lineart you speak of?

DolceCapella In reply to Akiranne [2012-08-26 09:11:58 +0000 UTC]
unlike many talented people out there i am unable to just draw lines, im so inferior. i got sai again yesterday, drawing straight lines and curving them now, such a time saver.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Akiranne In reply to DolceCapella [2012-08-26 12:21:32 +0000 UTC]
I didn't know you could curve lines in SAI.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DolceCapella In reply to Akiranne [2012-08-26 12:38:32 +0000 UTC]
on the linework layer you draw a straight line and use the edit tool to curve it - a lifesaver for me coz i scan hand drawn pics and trace the lines over the top, i can just curve the lines to match the pic underneath now ^ ^ a small thing but makes me pretty happy XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Akiranne In reply to DolceCapella [2012-08-26 12:44:26 +0000 UTC]
Oh. I never use the linework layers. I never figured out how, so I just trace as best I can.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DolceCapella In reply to Akiranne [2012-08-26 13:03:36 +0000 UTC]
im just trying it with one pic now and ill see after if it works better for me - but it definitely doesnt take as long as how i normally do it. the pen and eraser on the linework layer are annoying though, the line, edit and pressure tools are cool though.

DolceCapella In reply to Akiranne [2012-08-27 10:20:30 +0000 UTC]
yeah should be
the lines are really thin now, not sure if i should have done them a bit thicker
but oh well, its just an experiment really
