Description The first try on my new Adeptus Custodes- marines from the battle of Prospero-box. Its painted in NMM-technique without any real "metal-colors". I'm pretty happy how it came out. The model is sculpted by Games Workshop, paintjob and basing done by myself. Feel free to leave some commend/t if you like...

The sheer surface of bling kind of pushed me away from getting my hands on these guys
I do not feel like priming them gold and hit them with a wash, neither do i feel confident enough to nmm them... maybe i should go for the gold...

The gold variant is definitely easyer to achieve. And, with some extra layers for highlights, it will look good, too.... NMM is one of the things you do if you have too much time. And the moment you're done (after 3 Days of work) you realize, that you have plenty of these guys and that now you have to paint them all in this technique and you will never be done with it... ;-P

True, but it looks cheap. Especially when used in large quantities

Oh yeah, i feel you! I was already hating myself painting Calgar for my Ultramarines...

Nice. Non-Metallic Metal seems to me like a really tough technique to pull off, but the end result definitely makes for one of the most striking and unique effects out there.

Thx, it needs a lot of patience. And thats the one thing i usually lack. Thats why i decided to be done at this point. Someone with more patience could have done even more and better blending effects. But i am still satisfied.

Thank you! If done properly it sometimes looks more realistic than "real" gold color. In this case it adds a little "comic" look. But that is something i like, too...
