Description This is my Easy and Convenient Tutorial for ABSOLTUE BEGINNERS in Photoshop using mouse!!!

Me and my friendly pet Poring have created this very very simple tutorial I did for those of you who use a MOUSE to do your anime art. I used to use mouse until recently and I understand how absolutely agonizing it is to colour with a mouse. T___T
Erm...actually I'm a bit nervous about uploading this tutorial cause I'm not a pro at Photoshop myself...in fact I just learnt that Photoshop existed about 2 months ago..so yeah. TT_____TT
But I've been colouring with mouse for a fair amount of time using other programs, so don't worry ne. ^^

I actualy did this tutorial for a friend of mine who asked - but I thought why not share it with everyone else too ne? So here it is!!
Sorry if it takes long to load..the file size is so huge...and i couldnt shrink it any further without making the words too blurry to read...
The bit about erasing ... I'm not so sure...so if anyone has any better way to do it instead of eraser of magic wand...please let me know ne!! *^_^*

Erm...I'll probably move this into scraps after some time...I'm quite scared to what reactions I will get, this being my first tutorial and all...

I hope you understand it and enjoy!!!^^

I just wanted to comment on the title. PSP is commonly used to stand for Paint Shop Pro, isn't it? And yet this is a Photoshop tutorial. Don't people use PS for that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dominique871 In reply to aneesah [2005-06-26 10:28:01 +0000 UTC]

heh....I suppose you're right.
But usually me and my friends call it PSP...so I guess it's really up to some people about calling it PS or PSP...but you're right, PSP can also stand for Paint Shop Pro.
Lol, sorry for the confusion!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

aneesah In reply to dominique871 [2005-06-26 12:15:57 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, it's okay, I've never used PSP anyway. Oh, and calling PS PSP is better than calling it "Adobe", as some kids at school call it. And they pronounce it A-doh-b, too, instead of A-do-bee.

Hi! This is a good tutorial! U know it, cuz i added it to my favs not a long while ago! But I have a question 4 u.. what is that pen or whatever it is that everyone uses when they paint at PS instead of the mouse? Ive been trying to find a pen like that but i cant find it in the stores, and im trying to order one on the internet but I don't know the name...
Anyway, thank u for reading this , and hope u can help me! have a nice day

Hello!!!!

I'm so glad you liked my tutorial!!

I assume the 'pen' thing you are talking about is a tablet?

Yup. Should be. *^__^* They come in various ranges and sizes but the best brand to get out there is Wacom. They are very well known so I'm surprised you can't find them in your computer store!
They can be a bit expensive though - the best range they have is called Intuous but that's expensive. A lot of artists use the Graphire series (also by Wacom) and it works just as well and is slightly cheaper.

you can have a look at [link]

There's also a very useful guide here : [link]
Its a very good guide, take a look at it.

The one I am using is Wacom Intuous3, the size is 6x8, which is what quite a lot of people go for. If you are a beginner though, you might want to get something basic like the graphire and just upgrade to intuous in the future if it works for you.

A lot of people I know can't do anything with their tablets - because it is a bit hard to use at first and you need to get used to it - so it could be a risky venture. But if you can get the hang of it, you'll never ever use a mouse again.

I hope that helped and you can always ask me if you have anymore questions or if you don't understand anything!!!!

Have a nice day!!! *^__^*

Hi again!

Thank u for the 'instructions' and the time that u took helping me !

I might not buy a Wacom tablet, it seems too expensive.. especially since I live in sweden, and it cost alot to send it and so on.. But I think i might have found one not so expencive here in sweden! It will cost me almost 45 dollars, with export and everything! its very simple.. and it is 26x20 or something.. and it has got alot of good kritique

the question is if these tablets work on every program on the computer? I mean, what if this one that I want to buy only works on Paint and not Ps ?

Btw.. If u want u can check out my newest devation, an anime-pic made in PS (with the loust mouse! ) .. I would appriciate if u could tell me if something is "wrong" and what I can do better, and how. That is if u want and have time ofcourse

Have a very nice day!

Hello!!

I'm glad I could be of help! *^__^*

What is this tablet you are getting? I have heard of tablets getting spoiled or having malfunctions in the long run....because wacom specialize in them so they are more durable and sturdy and produce very little problems.

But I suppose it would be alright though...45 dollars is pretty cheap! Good for you!!!! Good luck with it!!!!!!!!

It should work fine with any program you have including Ps....why are you ordering it online? Are you sure they don't sell them at computer stores in sweden..? O__O
well anyways, you'd better check just in case if they do function with the programs...i'm not sure because I know wacom does but I'm not sure about other brands. It should, there shouldnt be a problem because a tablet is USB and therefore could work like a mouse, so they should be able to function 100% with any program. Don't worry about it. *^___^*

I'm going to look at your picture right now~!!!!

all the best~!!!

Bushie In reply to dominique871 [2005-06-08 21:18:03 +0000 UTC]

Hiiiii!

Well.. I sort of changed my mind again I think that im gonna order a Wacom tablet instead.. seams much better.. But not a graphire, Its a Wacom PenPartner, but its not that big, only 14.8 cm x 16 cm, and costs aroung 60 dollars.. But I think it is better.. cuz the first one that I wanted to get was a TrustTablet.. heard of them? But Still.. im kinda confused.. cuz the trusttablet was 22cm x 22 cm and cheaper.. what do u think?

And yes, its kinda wierd but almost no store where I live sells tablets.. only one, and they only have the really expencive Wacoms.. so i really have no choise but to order from the internet.. but it will be fun, i havent orderd anything before

And btw, thx for looking at my pic although.. i think u a little by saying it was "rally really really good".. cuz its definitly not! not compared to urs But ill try to keep ur suggestions on mind to become better..

Take care mate, :hug !

dominique871 In reply to Bushie [2005-06-09 03:40:48 +0000 UTC]

hmm...nope I've never heard of the TrustTablet before...I've never heard of the wacom penpartner either... O__O are you sure of it??? i looked on the wacom site and I couldnt find it there either...be careful not to get ripped off!!!!

tablets are really expensive so its good if you're sure you're gonna be able to use it and use it a lot in the long run, then its worth it.

no problem on the picture I do think its very good!!!

good luck and all the best!!! ^^

If u want to look at it, here it is : [link]

oh and btw.. If I don't wanna use the mouse that comes with it, and still stick to my old one, can I do that or do I have to uninstall my old mouse? and in that case.. can I uninstall the tablet each time after I use it, so that I can use my real mouse?

(sorry about all these questions)! heheh

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dominique871 In reply to Bushie [2005-06-09 16:48:00 +0000 UTC]

hi! i looked at the link and this sentence bothered me..

"Working with graphics, of course, is a dream. Our only problem appeared to be related to the Volito driver or possibly our video card, since we couldn't convince any paint program to recognise the stylus' pressure sensitivity, and Justwrite Office simply failed to show our pen strokes on screen at all."

If it can't read the pressure sensitivity then basically its useless. O__O tablets are beautiful to use because of pressure sensitivity.
But I don't know...it might be alright for you... O__O

You don't have to uninstall the tablet every time you use it - it's USB so you just plug it in and go like a normal mouse. And yea, you dont have to use the mouse that comes with it so don't worry.
you can always just leave your tablet and mouse both plugged in so you can use whichever you want anytime.

Dont worry about asking too many questions I'm more than happy to help!!!! *^__^*
Good luck!!!!

Bushie In reply to dominique871 [2005-06-09 18:08:55 +0000 UTC]

Omg.. that didn't sound good at all.. i mean, the part with the mouse is awsome but that sentence.. im not THAT good in english so im not quite shure I really got the meaning of it.. So the tablet doesnt work at any office program? and on photoshop? what happens when I use it there? Its doesnt get pressure sensitivity? but it sais that it reads something about 512 "pressurelevels".. well well.. I just have to wait and so.. but i have to say that im starting to get a little regretfull not cuz of the money, but when I buy this one, my mom wont pay for a new one EVER

Thank u so much for all the advice and all ur anwsers! U've been a great help! And if U ever need anything, u know u can ask me

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dominique871 In reply to Bushie [2005-06-10 05:20:51 +0000 UTC]

no no no ...what I meant was...it would work fine with photoshop and and office programs..
but in the sentence at the site they claimed that they couldnt register the pressure sensitivities (pressure sensitivities is like when you press hard, the lines are darker and thinker and when you press light the lines are lighter etc etc)
It says there are 512 pressure levels but the reviewers at the site claimed otherwise....it could be their mistake. Hopefully it works fine for you though!!

No worries, feel free to ask me anytime!!!! *^___^* ALL THE BEST & GOOD LUCK!!!!
let me know how the tablet works when it arrives!!! *^___^*

Bushie In reply to dominique871 [2005-06-09 14:58:59 +0000 UTC]

hi.. I've orderd now :S But not the wacompenpartner, but a Wacom Volito. Its pretty good and this is the bbest I can get.. but im scared that it will still be hard to use it and paint with it, it is 26x22 cm but turns out that I can only use 14x9 cm to draw.. which means that a small detail on the tablet becomes enormuse on the screen.. I dont know.. how big is urs?? Anyway.. I've already ordered now, it will arrive in 2-3 days I hope.. so we'll see then
I really hope that it is good, even though I know that it wont be perfect.. cuz I know ill use it in the long run!
hope u have a nice day,
