Description I needed a quick yet workable cityscape for work, so I decided to make it into a tutorial for those of you interested.

It might not be as finished as what some 3D programs can do but it worked for our use. I might even use it for one of my future projects here.

Oh my gosh! My favorite part is the background! The sky is beautiful! And the buildings in the background make it even better!

quick question!

Do you know if this can be done with Photoshop?

Not in the exact same way, but sure, I'm pretty sure you can do this pic in photoshop, probably with better results...

I used this. However, it was a bit hard, because I used Paint.NET, which has no such 3D tool.

Wow. Another Freehand user? We're so far and between that I don't know if you're actually glad or being a sarcastic Illustrator user
I'll take it as the former and be happy with that

I'm a happy and glad Freehand User!! I don't use Illustrator because it's for me a very complicated and bad prog.

Hmmm...Not too sure where all the tools are in Illustrator, since thise was made in Freehand MX...May take a look in the manual. I'm not even sure if Illustrator has that tool. Maybe named something different?

Thanks for the faves!

You probably already know this but... in Step 15, when you "duplicate every layer..." you can do that in one step in photoshop (at least in CS2). Just leave visible what you want to duplicate and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+N+E to create a "merged visibles layer". Save time if you've got a lot of layers to duplicate...

Anyhow, I think this tutorial is great - practical and easy to follow. Thanks for putting it together

Excellent tutorial. Although I use 3D software at work. I always need a occasional cityscape that does not have ot be the 3D look. Great idea!
