Such incredible shots!! I've never seen something like that before (and maybe I'm a bit lucky for that? lol)

I love this series. So impressive, on the part of the photographer and the wave.

For some reason, this makes me think of a lion jumping forth at its prey. Majestic and beautiful, but still so scary and dangerous. A marvelous work of art. Bravo

Wow - such a powerful story. When nature gets going, it is both a beautiful and terrifying thing to watch.

did this go all day long like that? it bounces very high into the air, green at 15m above the pier? wow, huge waves.

For most of the day, though at specific intervals.
The waves were highest at low tide - I guess the impact on the harbour wall which is then higher, projects the water further with force.

Interesting how this treatment draws the attention to the birds. I wonder how sanguine they are in their reactions to such events?

Come to think of it there were quite a few birds about.
I'm not sure exactly if they were fretting, or relishing in the moment like the surfers or kayakers.
I only discovered afterwards that the birds were in the frame.
At the time my focus was mainly on the wave & not getting wet.

Yeah, I can understand all of that.
We were watching gulls off the stern of a cross-Channel ferry a few weeks ago. Some were obviously just hitching a ride on the slipstream, but others were equally obviously playing, gliding gently to the places where the airstream would throw them up high, then repeating the performance on the other side. It looked great fun - and I'm sure that's exactly what it was

I love the birds sitting there and then deciding "bugger this, we're off!"
