In honor of my grandmother and a couple of folks who helped in her birth, I have created this custom starship class for my Video Game Republic subfranchise of the Star Trek universe. Enjoy.

Ada Florence class
Combined combat/medical cruiser

Crew capacity:
-Combat module: 685; 65 officer, 420 enlisted, 200 full-time SSTF members, 500 Robotic Operating Buddies
-Medical Module: 1600; 525 doctors, 413 nurses, 112 surgeons, 50 officers, 100 enlisted, 400 SSTF members, 700 Robotic Operating Buddies; capable of treating and holding up to 35,000 patients in its hospital section

Warp speed (using the Larson scale):
-Cruise: Warp 30; Warp 15 each for both modules when separated
--Maximum: Warp 50; Warp 25 each for both modules when separated
Emergency: Warp 60; Warp 30 each for both modules when separated

Impulse speed: 500,000 kph; 750,000 kph for separate modules

Weapons:
-Combat module: Five upper saucer dual phaser turrets, three lower saucer dual phaser turrets, six dual phaser emitters built into the saucer’s reaction control thrusters, two phaser cannons on the rollbar attachment (forward and aft firing), one aft triple barrel phaser turret, two forward firing photon torpedo tubes on the weapon/sensor/navigational pod, two forward firing tri-cobalt torpedo tubes on the weapon/sensor/navigational pod, four aft firing photon torpedo tubes on the weapon/sensor/navigational pod, two forward firing quantum torpedo tubes in lower area of the module’s dorsal

In the aftermath of some of the most severe events faced by the Federation and the Video Game Republic in recent times; the three Galadinian wars (as well as attacks by the Dark Legends), the Hamaron conflict, the war with the Milonians, the Milonian Anarchist crisis, and the attacks by the Black Spartans anti-alien terrorist organization (as well as the treasonous acts of its many infamous VG Human members that were VG Starfleet officers, including Margaret Parangosky, Serin Osman, Veronica Dare, Sarah Palmer, Edward Buck, Olympia Vale, and many others); both the Federation and the Republic decided to further strengthen the security and safety of colonies and citizens (as well as to better police their respective organizations in preventing anymore treasonous acts that greatly violate every principle that each Starfleet represents). One way that this was done was the developing of several special starship classes that were designed to combat threats and tend to those in need simultaneously with minimum risk. One of these classes is the Ada Florence class cruiser. Personally designed by Dr. Bruce Larson, the brainchild of resurrecting countless 22nd. to 25th. Century starship classes, this exclusive design was named after the first and middle names of one of his ancestors (as well as the frontier nurse and Catholic nun that helped in that ancestor’s birth). It combines a combat cruiser with a hospital ship to form one vessel. This ship has two modules; each with its own saucer section, warp engines, impulse engines, Main Bridge, and Main Engineering. Two times larger than the Galaxy class, this ship has more than enough space to evacuate an entire colony if needed. The combat module of the ship usually engages enemy forces with its superb armament of weapons. The medical module, with its enhanced state-of-the-art medical facilities and a very large hospital module, also has a superb armament of phasers and torpedoes. It is also equipped with a very large shuttlebay and can deploy hundreds of shuttlecrafts in emergencies (both out of standard and transporter buffer storages).

The two modules are usually connected under normal operations. In more critical situations, the modules separate. For example, if rogue Galadinians (as well as a Galadinian copy of the USS Defiant under Benjamin Sisko; members of the infamous Dark Legends) were attacking a colony and used a biogenic weapon to attempt to devastate that colony (reflecting, and inspired by, an unethical action Sisko took during his attempt to apprehend Michael Eddington); the combat module separates and engages the rogue Galadinians. The medical module then instantly commences evacuation and medical procedures, treating any colonists affected by the devastation. Another example is if Octani terrorists attempted to attack a planet colonized by liberated Borg drones: the combat module would separate and engage those forces in space. During the battle, both it and the medical module’s compliment of SSTF members (via shuttlecraft and transporters) head to the attacked planet to engage any Octani terrorists that beamed down to that planet (as well as protect the colonists and rescue any hostages). Medical teams would also beam down to tend to the wounded.

While two ships of this class (the USS Greenfield and the VGSS St. Elsewhere) will have the Captain command the combat section and the First Officer command the medical section (or vice versa in the case of the St. Elsewhere), Ada Florence class cruisers usually have two Captains (one from the Command department commands the combat module while the other Captain from the Medical department commands the medical module). Each Captain has his/her own First Officer (Command for the combat module and Medical for the medical module), Science Officers, Chief Engineer, Security Chief, Helmsmen, Navigators, Tactical officers, Transporter chiefs, Communications officers, SSTF Commander, and Operations Managers. Aside from combat and other emergency situations, these ships can also be assigned to border patrol duty or on deep space expeditions. However, the main purpose of these cruisers is to engage enemy forces and tend to those being attacked by them. The United Federation of Planets and the Video Game Republic hope that these new cruisers will be beneficial in future crises.
