Description
First page of "Keeper," the second "Afterdead" story.I had said about all I had to say about WWII and how the Germans got into that mess, and would begin to really point out the Americans going down the same crazy road. While giving myself full opportunity to draw any damn character or creature I wanted to.
I've since realized all I was doing was artwitching, so I'm going to try to stop that, now. Because it just makes things worse, and always has.
I'm about to make the jump into another art world, but I don't know which one. So I'm here on a mountain of work, staring off down dozens of roads, and mostly walking on the beach trying to listen to the strongest voice (if it will surface through all the babble).
FUN! But I'm still putting the KrautGrrl book together, so if you know anybody, get 'em going, because if there aren't enough pages, it won't work.

Thank you! This was the second version. Less busy. More swoopy.

No lie - I would proudly frame this.
Hopefully you have the original displayed somewhere nice.

I'm sorry - they're all in the Donna Barr collection in the San Diego State University. All my work. I live in a Tsunami zone, and now I don't have to worry about saving live things OR art.

Awwww dang, you have a collection there.
Keeping everything safe is a big plus, at least.

What are spot illustrations?

Small illustrations, up to 3 inches square, for illustrating prose. As you often see in illustrated novels.

Ah, okay!
One of my hobbies is collecting pencil sketches from my favorite artists. I currently have sketches by Jason Youngbluth, Dean Yeagle, and William Stout in my collection, along with plenty from my DA friends all over the world.
How much would you charge for a pencil sketch of whatever size and subject you'd like? I would be HONORED to have something of yours in my collection!

Well, the rates say it all. Pencil can be as complicated as anything else, and it includes shipping, packaging, insurance.
I do any subject EXCEPT copyrighted, and - well, there's ONE subject I've been asked to do that makes my hair stand on end, but I doubt you'll ask for it.
Otherwise, I'll draw anything!
Thank you for asking!

Excellent! I'm only interested in your own characters, anyway.
I prefer sketches of whatever the artist likes to draw best. William Stout drew a beautiful oviraptor, Intoxicart drew her lovely OCs sitting together by a fountain, Ryan Khatam drew a cute geisha eating sushi with a tiny dragon, etc. Nothing too complicated, and none took more than ten minutes or so.
I'm happy with paying the shipping fees, which I'm sure will be pricey, maybe $10 for the slow rates (it's been a long time since I shipped anything to or from the US so I don't know what the rates are anymore).

I love dinosaurs.... and birds and horses. And time does NOT equal money. It takes an artist a lifetime to learn, not the ten minutes to do the sketch. Think art, not price, and you'll be happier.
The costs for shipping include packaging, handling, shipping, research.
Where are you?

That's a good point. I remember once reading about an argument between an artist and his commissioner. The commissioner asked why he should hire someone to do something in under a day, and the artist says it's because it took him ten years to learn how to do it in under a day.
Prague, Czech Republic.

People think art is a "talent" you just do automatically, with no work. Morons.
The price should cover everything. I'll let you know if it doesn't.
Man, I hope I get to visit Prague some day.

After picking up Hader and the Colonel, and now taking a comics and sequential class at my college, I am just so very interested in yours and others' works! I especially love your half-human-half-critter characters, but the harpies definitely are a favorite! Major inspiration!

Thank you! If my work causes joy and inspires new artists, it makes my day. And there are so many wonderful drawn books out there now! I do love harpies, myself. I like drawing horses, humans and birds - and the half-critters let me have it all! But one DOES have to pay attention to one's anatomy.
Neat trick I discovered: the hipbone of the human exactly matches the angle and size of a horse's shoulder bone. Hook 'em up, and your centaurs will never look mis-matched!
Also note: all centaur art is imaginary in a technical way: the horse neck is narrow front-to-back, the human torso side-to-side. So when we draw them, we simply accept the hook-up just wouldn't really work. We just make it look that way!

My favourite part of this picture has to be the ankles of the bird-person ( harpy? ). I've been wanting a harpy-like character of my own for many, many years now, but I can't find a design I like, but I'm really liking the way you've illustrated the design.

Maybe, maybe, I really hope I can have a character that I'll love sometime soon. The first time I saw a harpy-like character that I liked was in the box of comics you sent my friend, and more recently my interest has been reinstated with this comic here, with these two characters: [link]

Sometimes it's fun to give a little nod to favourite artists. ;3
But nah - I draw inspiration from other's art, but I really hope that none of my characters are blatant copies of other's.

Yup. Digital is great for editing stuff; and for doing simple, very precise things; and for designing items that need to be made by machine. For expressive stuff, the best way can be digital or hand-made, depending on a lot of things. Anyway, I love good fonts.
