Description
Connolly AFB, the top secret US base that SL Magazine is featuring this month, really is an operational flying base.Β This represents just a portion of the operations part of the base.Β Most of the base cannot be photographed due to security considerations.-------------------

What do those white chalk(?) markings mean, the ones on the left wing of the closer airplane and on the top of the other one's fuselage?

Those markings mark the location of the aerial refueling port on both aircraft --on the F-15 over the left air intake and on the F-16 directly center halfway between the cockpit and vertical stabilizer.

Valkyrie can fly all of these aircraft, can't she? It's almost like we're seeing her parking space--really interesting! I imagine each ship in her fleet would have stories to tell.Β

Valkyrie and Wildfire are both qualified to fly every fixed wing Β in the squadron including the F-22.Β They are both also qualified weapons officers.Β Captain Connolly and her army detachment fly all the rotary wing aircraft.

In order it is an F-15 Strike Eagle, an F-16 Falcon, a Hughes MD500 little bird and an AH64 Apache long bow. Great image of the base Donna! Now if the outside areas of the base are off limits how about images of the women's locker room area?

You could give a more black ops touch by erasing numbers and letters on the airplanes.

For this unit, the markings on the aircraft are randomly selected from existing units.... so they can't be identified as special operations aircraft while in transit.Β When operating they remove markings if appropriate and sometimes paint the aircraft black.Β

Ahhhh, every time I see a military installation post of yours Donna, I start longing to be back on base again! Nice work darlin'. We had the F-14s, EF-111As and various other tactical and cargo planes on station. I still remember mobilizing on my birthday in 1986 after we bombed a Libyan compound housing Gaddafi, and sadly missing him but killing his infant daughter amongst the collateral damage. Yes, war is hell, but my memories will be fond forever! Thanx doll!

actually, his infant daughter survived... they made out like she was killed in the bombing so they can play the blame game.Β she's now a grown woman and I believe in exile since Gaddafi was murdered.
